Overall, the trailer is getting high marks for the animation, but viewers piled on to say Pratt did nothing to alter his normal speaking voice to more closely resemble Mario, who is supposed to be an Italian plumber with a noticeable accent.<\/p>\n[embedded content]\n<p>Pratt only has two lines in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/entertainment\">trailer<\/a>, saying, \u201cWhat is this place?\u201d and \u201cMushroom Kingdom, here we come!\u201d However, that was enough to send Twitter into a frenzy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou can tell Jack Black put a ton of love and heart into his Bowser voice, while Chris Pratt just uh\u2026 spoke? Kinda weird but the visuals are absolutely f***ing stellar, and I love the general vibe of the whole thing,\u201d one person shared. \u201cI\u2019m excited for this dang Mario movie.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGood to know that Chris Pratt was hired to voice Mario as Chris Pratt,\u201d another joked.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cChris Pratt saying he worked so hard on the Mario voice only for it to sound like Chris Pratt is the funniest thing,\u201d another Twitter user wrote.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>What makes the backlash even more surprising is that the actor specifically mentioned how much work he had put into getting the voice right.<\/p>\n<p>Pratt told <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2022\/film\/columns\/chris-pratt-super-mario-bros-voice-jurassic-world-dominion-1235301622\/\">Variety<\/a> earlier this year that he \u201cworked really closely with the directors\u201d to create the perfect Mario voice, saying, \u201c[We tried] out a few things and landed on something that I\u2019m really proud of.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s an animated voiceover narrative,\u201d Pratt told the publication at the time. \u201cIt\u2019s not a live-action movie. I\u2019m not gonna be wearing a plumber suit running all over. I\u2019m providing a voice for an animated character, and it is updated and unlike anything you\u2019ve heard in the Mario world before.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Some fans were already annoyed to see Pratt cast as Mario, saying the studio should have opted for an actual Italian voice actor instead.
