The principal called it \u201cexclusionary\u201d because not everyone celebrates the holiday.<\/p>\n<p>After <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Brookside_LFP\/status\/1447923576426872843\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">torturing children<\/a> with absurd and unscientific COVID protocols, like socially-distanced lunch outside on the pavement, you\u2019d think Principal John Simard of Brookside Elementary in Shoreline would want kids to have fun. No such luck. He emailed parents to explain that while some children may be looking forward to Halloween, he cannot allow any celebrations.<\/p>\n<p>Wokeness killed another holiday celebration where kids could have fun. This move should be condemned, not celebrated as inclusive.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/mynorthwest.com\/3183712\/rantz-seattle-elementary-school-cancels-halloween-equity-concerns\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rantz: Seattle school cancels Halloween over \u2018equity,\u2019 says Black kids don\u2019t celebrate<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<h3>School pretends Halloween is exclusionary<\/h3>\n<p>There are some students that do not celebrate Halloween. And if they don\u2019t celebrate, then no one can, the principal says.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMany see Halloween as a fun candy-filled holiday,\u201d Simard writes. \u201cThey enjoy the community-building benefits that a shared experience can bring. This may be true for you and your family; I can certainly say it is for mine. However, this is not the case for all. Halloween celebrations are exclusionary for students who come from certain cultural or religious backgrounds.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Simard does not explain which cultural or religious backgrounds preclude the celebration of a secular holiday. He also doesn\u2019t explain why \u201cCrazy Hat Day,\u201d where students wear crazy hats as they would costumes, is <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Brookside_LFP\/status\/1536868901379665921\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">permissible<\/a>. And although not every student celebrates Thanksgiving, Simard isn\u2019t canceling that holiday\u2019s week-long beak.<\/p>\n<p>The principal also says he wants \u201cthis to be a place for all of our students and families.\u201d But by banning Halloween, he\u2019s expressly stating the school is not a place for students and families who celebrate Halloween.<\/p>\n<h3>Taking time out of an instructional day? No way!<\/h3>\n<p>Simard notes that some families have opted out of celebrating Halloween in previous years. He complains they shouldn\u2019t have to do that. Parents must opt out of age-inappropriate and politically motivated sexual education classes, but opting out of Halloween is one step too far.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a public school, should we be hosting events during the instructional day that exclude students? No, we should not. We want this to be a place for all of our students and families,\u201d Simard writes.<\/p>\n<p>Crazy Hat Day is celebrated during instruction day. So is Sports Day, an obviously abelist holiday that makes some children feel left out.<\/p>\n<p>Neither the district spokesperson nor the principal responded to multiple requests for comment. But one parent, who asked to remain anonymous, told the Jason Rantz Show on KTTH that he and his family are sick of the politically-motivated double standards.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBirthdays are celebrated, there are cultural heritage months, Black Lives Matter curriculum and flags, pride celebration, along with all of the other religious holidays that are acknowledged,\u201d the dad said. \u201cWhy is Halloween canceled? The school also has other days where dressing up silly, or in colors or in pajamas, is encouraged. I see zero difference in letting kids dress up in costumes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The dad called this \u201cunfortunate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHalloween is celebrated in many countries and throughout many cultures across the world,\u201d he continued. \u201cWhy are the traditions of the majority being canceled by a few people protecting those that choose not to celebrate? Who is it hurting? And if they are hurting from kids dressing up in costumes, they have bigger issues to deal with personally. Who cares if you don\u2019t celebrate something? Let the ones that celebrate have a good time! No one is forcing them to participate. It\u2019s also ok to adopt new cultural celebrations and the traditions of the country you live in, America.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/mynorthwest.com\/3650775\/rantz-elementary-principal-allegedly-pushed-erotic-fiction-lover-of-smut-recorded-smoking-weed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Rantz: Elementary principal allegedly pushed erotic fiction, said he\u2019s a \u2018lover of smut,\u2019 recorded smoking weed<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Why do liberals hate everything?<\/h3>\n<p>Liberals are miserable. The only thing that appears to bring them joy is making everyone else as miserable as they are. Exclusionary?\u00a0There isn\u2019t a singular celebration, event, extracurricular, or sports team that isn\u2019t \u201cexclusionary.\u201d Yet, the school allows those activities.<\/p>\n<p>Not all students are capable of playing an instrument. Some families can\u2019t afford it. Yet, does the school cancel the orchestra? No. They <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Brookside_LFP\/status\/1532558690376511489\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">celebrate<\/a> it. And not everyone has athletic skills or feels comfortable performing in public. So why does the school promote volleyball, soccer, hockey, and golf? In fact, golf is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=golf+white+supremacy&amp;oq=golf+white+supremacy&amp;aqs=chrome..69i57.3801j0j7&amp;sourceid=chrome&amp;ie=UTF-8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">supposedly<\/a> white supremacy in action \u2014 wouldn\u2019t this exclude (and offend) black students?<\/p>\n<p>You can make a number of silly arguments to claim\u00a0<em>anything\u00a0<\/em>is exclusionary. So why do they get rid of Halloween? It has everything to do with the destructive \u201cequity\u201d movement, which brings nothing but anger and division.<\/p>\n<p>Left-wing educators have moved to cancel Halloween <a href=\"https:\/\/www.news10.com\/news\/some-schools-cancelling-halloween-celebrations-for-the-sake-of-inclusivity\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">nationwide<\/a> because they note that some students can\u2019t afford nice costumes (or any at all). This is undoubtedly true. Perhaps, rather than using a low-income family to justify canceling a fun celebration, you could get creative, encourage costume donations, or offer alternative programming for the day. But heaven forbid we let kids have fun \u2014 a concept that I\u2019m sure some educators will claim is white supremacy culture.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a truly sad example of what our society has turned into,\u201d the Shoreline dad explained. \u201cThe need to cancel everything someone doesn\u2019t like has become the breaking point of the fabric of our country. Cancel culture is just another form of censorship. Censorship is control. I can\u2019t even fathom the fact that I have to write a reporter so my kid and his friends can dress up in their costumes for Halloween.
