Paxton said he fled to avoid\u00a0a \u201cstranger\u201d who was lingering outside his home amid concerns over the safety of his family.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0nonprofits who filed the lawsuit have requested that Paxton clarify previous statements he made about\u00a0the enforcement of Texas\u2019s trigger law as it related to out-of-state abortions.<\/p>\n<p>They argue that his statements \u201cchill their First Amendment rights to speak about and fund abortion care\u201d and \u201crestrict their ability to facilitate out-of-state abortions, which is protected by the right to interstate travel.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The plaintiffs in that lawsuit (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.classaction.org\/media\/fund-texas-choice-et-al-v-paxton-et-al.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pdf<\/a>) are: Fund Texas Choice, The North Texas Equal Access Fund, The Lilith Fund for Reproductive Equity, Frontera Fund, The Afiya Center, West Fund, Jane\u2019s Due Process, Clinic Access Support Network, and Dr. Ghazaleh Moayedi.<\/p>\n<p>According to\u00a0an affidavit\u00a0(<a href=\"https:\/\/static.texastribune.org\/media\/files\/d58928b9bcb034f0cdfb2673e8a9c627\/Fund%20Texas%20v%20Paxton%20Return%20of%20Service.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pdf<\/a>) filed in federal court last week,\u00a0Herrera arrived at Paxton\u2019s home to serve him with the subpoena to appear in a federal court hearing but the attorney general \u201cfled\u201d in a vehicle driven by his wife, state Sen.
