It moves me every single time and I\u2019m just grateful that this \u2018Matilda\u2019 is a musical.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Oscar winner Thompson plays Miss Trunchbull in the film, directed by Matthew Warchus, who also developed and directed the theatre show.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c(It was) the most physically challenging thing I\u2019ve ever done because it was so physical and also Matthew wanted her to be utterly authentic so it was hard because she\u2019s sort of such a monster,\u201d Thompson said. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut we had such fun with the children and we would get on set and have these huge hug fests and Matthew would keep screaming \u2018Will you please stop hugging the children? They\u2019re supposed to hate you\u2019 and I said \u2018But they all think I\u2019m Nanny McPhee,\u201d she added, referencing a past character she played.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s festival includes more than 160 feature films and screen talks with actress Jennifer Lawrence and director Alejandro G.
