As part of that settlement, our case will be dismissed. The filming of Rust, which I will now executive produce, will resume with all the original principal players on board in January 2023. I have no interest in engaging in recriminations or attribution of blame (to the producers or Mr. Baldwin). All of us believe Halyna\u2019s death was a terrible accident. I am grateful that the producers and the entertainment community have come together to pay tribute to Halyna\u2019s final work,\u201d Hutchins said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\" data-uri=\"archive.cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/paragraph_D33C114E-63AF-980B-530A-A86052E3D8F4@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-analytics-observe=\"off\">\u201cThroughout this difficult process, everyone has maintained the specific desire to do what is best for Halyna\u2019s son. We are grateful to everyone who contributed to the resolution of this tragic and painful situation,\u201d Alec Baldwin\u2019s attorney, Luke Nikas of Quinn Emanuel trial lawyers, also said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>Baldwin posted an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CjVZ-9GO0z-\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">update<\/a> regarding the settlement on his Instagram account on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are pleased to announce today the settlement of the civil case filed on behalf of the family of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The Instagram announcement further revealed that the \u201cRust\u201d film would resume production in January. Matthew Hutchins will be an executive producer on the film and receive a portion of the profits.<\/p>\n<p>Rust Movie Productions also released a <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2022\/10\/alec-baldwin-rust-halyna-hutchins-settlement-1235135693\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">statement<\/a> to Deadline regarding the announcement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are pleased the parties came together to resolve this matter, which, subject to court approval, marks an important step forward in celebrating Halyna\u2019s life and honoring her work,\u201d attorney Melina Spadone of Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman said.<\/p>\n<p>The Daily Wire previously <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/alec-baldwin-says-latest-report-on-fatal-rust-shooting-exonerates-him\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a> in April that Baldwin said a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/breaking-new-mexico-fines-rust-production-company-max-penalty-over-alec-baldwin-involved-shooting\">report<\/a> from the New Mexico Occupational Health and Safety Bureau exonerated him from the on-set shooting that killed Hutchins and wounded director Joel Souza.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are grateful to the New Mexico Occupational Health and Safety Bureau for investigating this matter,\u201d Baldwin\u2019s attorney said in a statement. \u201cWe appreciate the report exonerates Mr. Baldwin by making clear that he believed the gun held only dummy rounds.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>New Mexico workplace safety regulators previously fined Rust Movie Productions $136,793 and issued a \u201cscathing\u201d review of the production company\u2019s safety practices, <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/alec-baldwin-entertainment-business-new-mexico-shootings-593c19fdb4dd7657aaaeacd85c689456\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according to<\/a> an April report by the Associated Press.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Alec Baldwin has reached a settlement with the family of Halyna Hutchins, the cinematographer who was killed on the \u201cRust\u201d movie set last year.
