Trauma to the muscle and soft-tissue of the leg required surgical release of the covering of the muscles to relieve pressure due to swelling,\u201d added Dr. Mahajan.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>As <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2021\/02\/23\/sports\/golf\/tiger-woods-car-accident.html\">The New York Times<\/a> notes, the statement doesn\u2019t note any injuries to Woods\u2019 left leg, but earlier in the day, Los Angeles County Fire Department Chief Daryl Osby said Woods had suffered injuries to both legs.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"und\" dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/vZitnFV0YA\">pic.twitter.com\/vZitnFV0YA<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Tiger Woods (@TigerWoods) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TigerWoods\/status\/1364447580520738820?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 24, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva said Tuesday that Woods was \u201clucky to be alive,\u201d and had to be removed from his SUV after the crash, which occurred around 7 a.m. local time, according to<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/california\/story\/2021-02-23\/tiger-woods-injured-after-car-accident-la\"><span>The Los Angeles Times<\/span><\/a><span>. Villanevua said that Woods had been driving down a hill at a \u201crelatively greater speed than normal\u201d and his car rolled over several times.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Woods was the SUV\u2019s only occupant and there were no signs he was intoxicated, Villanueva said in the Tuesday press conference.<\/span> <span>Sheriff\u2019s Deputy Carlos Gonzales, the first deputy on-scene following the accident, said Woods was conscious when he arrived but that he couldn\u2019t get out of the car on his own, according to local news outlet<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/ktla.com\/news\/local-news\/tiger-woods-injured-in-rollover-crash-in-rancho-palos-verdes-area\/\"><span>KTLA-5<\/span><\/a><span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThe nature of his vehicle, the fact that he was wearing a seat belt \u2014 I would say that it greatly increased the likelihood that it saved his life,\u201d remarked Gonzales. \u201cIt\u2019s very fortunate that Mr. Woods was able to come out of this alive.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/golf\/story\/_\/id\/30951717\/tiger-woods-hospitalized-vehicle-rolls-crash\">ESPN<\/a>, Woods was in the Los Angeles Area to host a tournament over the weekend, but had stayed longer for a photo shoot. Woods is a resident of Florida, but grew up in the southern California region.<\/p>\n<p><span>Mark Steinberg, Woods\u2019 agent, had confirmed the accident to<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.golfdigest.com\/story\/tiger-woods-car-accident-los-angeles\"><span>Golf Digest<\/span><\/a><span>\u00a0earlier in the day: \u201cTiger Woods was in a single-car accident this morning in California where he suffered multiple leg injuries.
