At least one of the officers was at the training where Tipping died.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cOur investigation has uncovered claims that one of the officers accused of sexual assault was at the training where officer Houston Tipping eventually died,\u201d he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vice.com\/en\/article\/k7bnm3\/houston-tipping-lapd-beaten-to-death\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a>. \u201cWe have a witness that claimed that this occurred. We have documents that claim this occurred. And we also know from his family that officer Tipping, after spending a few years happy at LAPD, following these events, was searching for a job outside of the LAPD. [They say] he did not say why, but he clearly was distraught over something.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The Los Angeles County Coroner <a href=\"https:\/\/abc7.com\/lapd-officer-houston-tipping-autopsy\/12079891\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a> earlier this year that Tipping passed away when he fell while gripping another officer in a \u201cbear hug\u201d during a class instruction he was conducting. However, a recent medical report noted that Tipping was \u201cpossibly dropped\u201d on his head, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxla.com\/news\/new-claim-filed-lapd-officer-houston-tipping-death\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fox<\/a> LA.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The police department\u2019s account of what happened has differed from what the family and Gage are claiming.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The department said Tipping\u2019s fall caused a spinal cord injury. While other officers tried to give him CPR and called Los Angeles Fire Department teams, he passed away after being transported to Los Angeles County USC Medical Center.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Tipping\u2019s mother, Shirley Huffman, brought a wrongful death claim against the police department earlier this year, claiming that her son was beaten.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">In July, Gage <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/liborjany\/status\/1544407656865021952?s=20&amp;t=zTfIUYcuf24kuzLy8x7PhA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> Tipping was paralyzed and couldn\u2019t breathe on his own, and \u201chad a collapsed lung, he had a broken rib, and he had [a] liver so badly damaged they were not sure if he would be a suitable\u2026organ donor.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cWhen you look at all these horrific injuries, the truth is something went seriously wrong here,\u201d he said. \u201cI cannot fathom anything other than a severe beating. This raises a number of questions that the family would like to have answered.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">This <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DrRJKavanagh\/status\/1577104442444238848?s=20&amp;t=TAD70GbfLmBfne6d6FQAmw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">week<\/a>, Gage <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/losangeles\/news\/lawyer-claims-lapd-officer-was-targeted-for-being-a-potential-whistleblower\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cited<\/a> several issues with the autopsy report and the department\u2019s account of what happened.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">LAPD officer Houston Tipping died after a training exercise during which he was beaten &#038; slammed to the ground by other cops.
