Instead, they generally turn out to be regular gay or lesbian folks,\u201d<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sexologytoday.org\/2016\/01\/do-trans-kids-stay-trans-when-they-grow_99.html\"> <span>says<\/span><\/a><span> sexual behavior scientist Dr. James Cantor.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>But rather than let these feelings fade, gender clinics and hospitals across the U.S. have adopted the \u201cgender affirming\u201d approach. In practice, this approach amounts to putting children in charge of dictating the terms of their own sex change. The gender-affirmation model prevents medical professionals from questioning a child\u2019s self-reported transgender identity, and from exploring possible underlying factors causing their dysphoria. The standard protocol for gender affirmation is administering puberty blockers, followed by cross-sex hormones and then surgery, if desired.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>With the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/every-tomboy-is-tagged-transgender-transsexual-gender-dysphoria-children-hormones-clinic-terminology-expectations-11663872092\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">broadening of the definition<\/a> of what it means to be \u201ctransgender,\u201d more children are in danger of becoming lifelong medical patients. A clinical diagnosis of persistent gender dysphoria from early childhood isn\u2019t even necessary to receive treatment. Even if hospitals do abide by this \u201c<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.statnews.com\/2022\/03\/11\/giving-gender-affirming-care-gender-dysphoria-diagnosis-should-not-be-required\/\"><span>outdated<\/span><\/a><span>\u201d practice, the DSM-5, the manual of mental disorders used by health care professionals, has rendered it practically worthless. The update to the DSM-5<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theravive.com\/therapedia\/gender-dysphoria-dsm--5-302.85-(f64.9)\"> <span>indicates<\/span><\/a><span> that \u201cgender incongruence\u201d only needs to be present for 6 months, so many children who recently decided on a trans-identity can obtain puberty blockers, hormones, and surgeries.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Here is a list of 47 pediatric gender clinics in the U.S. advertising services for children who merely reject sex-based stereotypes, as <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hrc.org\/resources\/interactive-map-clinical-care-programs-for-gender-nonconforming-childr\"><span>highlighted<\/span><\/a><span> by the left-wing Human Rights Campaign. <\/span><span>A similar list was <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/journals.healio.com\/doi\/10.3928\/00904481-20140522-11\"><span>published<\/span><\/a><span> in the peer-reviewed journal \u201c<\/span><span>Pediatric Annals<\/span><span>,\u201d titled \u201c<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/docplayer.net\/11594541-Resource-list-clinical-care-programs-for-gender-nonconforming-children-and-adolescents.html\"><span>Resource List: Clinical Care Programs for Gender-Nonconforming Children and Adolescents.<\/span><\/a><span>\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Arizona<\/b><\/p>\n<p>1. <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20220702075541\/https:\/\/www.phoenixchildrens.org\/gendersupport\"><b>Phoenix Children\u2019s Hospital<\/b><span>\u00a0<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span>According to its Gender Support Program homepage, Phoenix Children\u2019s Hospital treats \u201cgender questioning\u201d and \u201cgender expansive\u201d youth, who are described as \u201c<\/span><span>Children and youth who express a wider, more flexible range of gender identity and\/or expression than typically associated with their sex assigned at birth.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>2. <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20221003214028\/https:\/\/www.elrio.org\/service\/transgender-medicine\/\"><b>El Rio Community Health Center<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span>El Rio Community Health Center\u2019s Medical Home for Transgender and Gender Non-Conforming Youth in Tuscan, Arizona <\/span><span>provides \u201cgender affirming care\u201d to the \u201cPediatric and Adult Transgender and Gender Non-Conforming communities as well as LGBTQ patients.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>California<\/b><\/p>\n<p>3. <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20220816174525\/https:\/\/diversitybch.ucsf.edu\/child-and-adolescent-gender-center\"><b>University of California San Francisco Benioff Children\u2019s Hospital<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span>The University of California San Francisco Benioff Children\u2019s Hospital\u2019s Child and Adolescent Gender Center (UCSF) welcomes children as young as <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/thepostmillennial.com\/california-gender-clinic-treats-patients-as-young-as-2-years-old\"><span>two<\/span><\/a><span>, according to mental health director Diane Ehrensaft in a promotional <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/KxnlPQwg9pY\"><span>video<\/span><\/a><span> to potential patients and their families, who are described as \u201cgender creative,\u201d \u201cgender diverse,\u201d and \u201cgender-expansive.\u201d UCSF offers <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20220823203000\/https:\/\/transcare.ucsf.edu\/guidelines\/gender-nonconforming\"><span>additional guidance<\/span><\/a><span> on \u201cGenderqueer, gender non-conforming, and gender nonbinary (GNB) people\u201d who \u201cdo not live within the binary gender narrative,\u201d and a guide to neopronouns and various identities including \u201cgender blender\u201d and \u201cgender smoothie.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>4. <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20220817192424\/https:\/\/dimensionsclinic.com\/\"><b>Dimensions Clinic San Francisco Castro-Mission Health Center<\/b><\/a><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span>The Dimensions Clinic offers free and low-cost healthcare to youth ages <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20221003184613\/https:\/\/sfhealthnetwork.org\/primary-care-3\/community-health-programs-for-youth-chpy\/\"><span>12-25<\/span><\/a> <span>\u201c<\/span><span>specifically to serve transgender and gender non-binary young people.\u201d Dimensions Clinic suggested it assisted in concealing a child\u2019s visit from parents by obscuring the billing information. A question archived from their <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/webcache.googleusercontent.com\/search?q=cache:2U_iiaskLTAJ:https:\/\/dimensionsclinic.com\/faq\/&amp;cd=1&amp;hl=en&amp;ct=clnk&amp;gl=us&amp;client=safari\"><span>FAQ<\/span><\/a><span> asks \u201cWhat if I have insurance through my parents and they don\u2019t know I\u2019m Queer\/Trans?\u201d and answers:<\/span> <span>\u201cBilling would indicate you had a visit at the Castro-Mission Health Center, not Dimensions Clinic. We take steps to ensure confidentiality for all of our patients, please talk to us about your needs around discretion.\u201d However, this may also apply to adults over 18 who are still on their parent\u2019s insurance plan.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>5. <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20221003214212\/https:\/\/thrive.kaiserpermanente.org\/care-near-you\/northern-california\/eastbay\/departments\/gender-affirming-care\/pediatric-services-in-the-mst-department\/\"><b>Oakland href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20220523141213\/https:\/\/www.stanfordchildrens.org\/en\/service\/gender\"><b>Lucile Packard Children\u2019s Hospital Stanford<\/b><\/a><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span>The Pediatric and Adolescent Gender Clinic at Lucile Packard Children\u2019s Hospital at Standford<\/span> <span>in Palo Alto, California \u201cprovides medical services for gender nonconforming youths and their families in one central location.\u201d According to its \u201ctop surgery\u201d <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.stanfordchildrens.org\/en\/service\/gender\/top-surgery?\"><span>page<\/span><\/a><span>, double mastectomy surgery is marketed towards \u201cteens\u201d and \u201cgives gender diverse youth solid footing for stepping out into the world.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>7. <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20220617122811\/https:\/\/www.scvmc.org\/health-care-services\/gender-health-center\"><b>Santa Clara Valley Medical Center<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span>The Gender Health Center (GHC) at the Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in California markets itself as \u201cthe first all ages clinic specialized in caring for transgender, gender-non-binary and gender expansive people in the South Bay.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>8. <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20220826205615\/https:\/\/www.uclahealth.org\/medical-services\/gender-health\/programs-services\/pediatric-care\"><b>UCLA Gender Health Pediatric Care<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span>The UCLA Gender Health Program\u2019s pediatric practice provides \u201cgender affirming\u201d treatments for \u201cchildren and adolescents who are transgender or gender-diverse.\u201d UCLA offers its patients <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20220818055816\/https:\/\/www.yalemedicine.org\/news\/yale-team-gender-issues\"><b>Yale Medicine<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span>Yale Medicine\u2019s Pediatric Gender Program <\/span><span>\u201csupports the needs of gender-diverse children and their families\u201d and \u201ctreats people as young as 3 and up to age 25.\u201d<\/span><span> Speaking in a now-deleted
