Roberts of the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas\u00a0issued a permanent injunction (<a href=\"https:\/\/thereload.com\/app\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Permanent-Injunction-Roberts.pdf\">pdf<\/a>)\u00a0against the ban and\u00a0permanently enjoined the city against enforcing the directive.<\/p>\n<p>Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney, a Democrat, signed an\u00a0executive order (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.phila.gov\/media\/20220927104203\/Executive-Order-2022-04.pdf\">pdf<\/a>) in September banning\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/t-firearms\">firearms<\/a> in all city-owned recreational facilities, stating that it was \u201ccrucial to take steps\u201d to ensure that the city\u2019s recreational facilities are \u201ca safe place for children and all of the Philadelphia community to gather.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0executive order stated that since 2019,\u00a0nearly 300 reported shooting incidents have occurred at city recreation facilities, in addition to dozens of other incidents of violence with a deadly weapon.<\/p>\n<p>It also cited the Sept. 9 death of\u00a0Tiffany Fletcher, an employee of the Mill Creek Recreation Center in West Philadelphia.\u00a0Fletcher was shot and killed while working, the order said.<\/p>\n<p>The order went into effect immediately and\u00a0prohibited anyone carrying a firearm from entering any indoor or outdoor facility operated by the city\u2019s Department of Parks and Recreation.<\/p>\n<p>Such places include\u00a0recreational centers, ballfields, courts, pools, and playgrounds but excluded\u00a0park trails and \u201cpassive park space,\u201d according to the order.<\/p>\n<p> <a href=\"https:\/\/img.theepochtimes.com\/assets\/uploads\/2022\/07\/1.tagreuters.com2022binary_LYNXMPEI67106-FILEDIMAGE-1200x800.jpg\"><\/a> An AR-15 upper receiver nicknamed \u201cThe Balloter\u201d is seen for sale at Firearms Unknown, a gun store in Oceanside, Calif., on April 12, 2021.
