The DOJ also went further, releasing the August 2018 letter explaining why Strzok was fired. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI removed all the politics, pundits, commentary, and the media from reporting the decision point I must address. When I strip away all the \u2018noise,\u2019 I am left with the facts and the extremely damaging impact to our organization, which will take years to overcome,\u201d Bowdich\u2019s newly released letter to Strzok explained. \u201cAs Deputy Assistant Director you were supposed to be a leader who was beyond reproach and set an example not only for your direct subordinates, but others throughout the organization who watched and observed your behaviors and actions. You failed to do so repeatedly and put your own interests about [sic] the interests of the organization.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>Bowdich concluded: &#8220;Though it pains me to do so, it is for this reason that I am dismissing you from the rolls of the FBI.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>The Justice Department said Thursday that Bowdich recently further testified he did not discuss Strzok in any of the interactions he had with Trump and that he \u201cnever saw the president get involved in the termination of anyone beyond the politically-appointed director.\u201d Trump <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/gop-fbi-briefings-history-weaponized-politicized\">fired former FBI Director James Comey<\/a> in May 2017. <\/p>\n<p>Bowdich also testified he \u201cabsolutely\u201d did not recall Wray ever telling him about any meeting with Trump in which \u201cthe president pressed the director to fire Peter Strzok and Lisa Page.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>It comes after Strzok <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/peter-strzok-sues-bill-barr-christopher-wray-and-fbi-to-get-job-back\">filed<\/a> a civil lawsuit against Wray, then-Attorney General William Barr, and the bureau in August 2019, claiming he was wrongfully <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/you-deserve-to-be-divorced-not-fired-peter-strzok-quotes-wife-in-arguing-against-fbi-firing-for-anti-trump-texts\">terminated<\/a> in 2018 after the discovery of anti-Trump texts with former FBI lawyer Lisa Page, with whom he was romantically involved. He played a <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/peter-strzok-kept-up-secretive-searches-of-michael-flynn-after-george-papadopoulos-told-fbi-he-received-russian-dirt-tip\">key role<\/a> in opening the Crossfire Hurricane investigation in 2016 and interviewed retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn in January 2017. <\/p>\n<p>Strzok claimed in his lawsuit that his firing was \u201cthe result of unrelenting pressure from President Trump and his political allies in Congress and the media.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>Trump celebrated Strzok\u2019s firing in August 2018. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cJust fired Agent Strzok, formerly of the FBI, was in charge of the Crooked Hillary Clinton sham investigation,\u201d Trump tweeted at the time. <\/p>\n<p>Strzok came under heavy criticism after the revelation of thousands of highly political anti-Trump texts he\u2019d sent with Page throughout 2016 and 2017. <\/p>\n<p><b><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\">CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/a><\/b> <\/p>\n<p>In one notable exchange in August 2016, Page asked Strzok, \u201c[Trump is] not ever going to become president, right?
