Among the allegations made by Fair Fight include \u201cserious and unconstitutional flaws in Georgia\u2019s elections process\u201d relating to, as Breitbart <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/10\/01\/federal-judge-rules-against-stacey-abrams-backed-group-upholds-2018-georgia-voting-law\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">summarized<\/a>, \u201cabsentee ballots, voter registration, and voter list management.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/10\/01\/federal-judge-rules-against-stacey-abrams-backed-group-upholds-2018-georgia-voting-law\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Breitbart<\/a>, \u201cThe group alleged certain voting practices in the state disenfranchised racial minorities, but many of the claims had already been thrown out over the last four years, including claims related to \u2018long lines, voting machines, inadequate poll worker training, ballot rejections and large-scale voter registration cancellations.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne of the claims left hanging in the balance was that the state\u2019s \u2018exact match\u2019 voter registration policy disproportionately affected black voters,\u201d the Breitbart report continued. \u201cJones shot that down, writing,\u00a0\u2018Here, plaintiffs have not provided direct evidence of a voter who was unable to vote, experienced longer wait times, was confused about voter registration status.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp, who successfully ran against Abrams in the 2018 gubernatorial race and previously served as Georgia\u2019s secretary of state, celebrated the Friday ruling as a humiliating defeat for Abrams\u2019 bid to delegitimize the state\u2019s election processes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom day one, Abrams has used this lawsuit to line her pockets, sow distrust in our democratic institutions, and build her own celebrity,\u201d Kemp wrote on Twitter. \u201cJudge Jones\u2019 ruling exposes this legal effort for what it really is: a tool wielded by a politician hoping to wrongfully weaponize the legal system to further her own political goals.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<span class=\"qrkondO4I8JtWS201LRPvubjse3C7FTyE\"><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Judge Jones\u2019 ruling exposes this legal effort for what it really is: a tool wielded by a politician hoping to wrongfully weaponize the legal system to further her own political goals.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Brian Kemp (@BrianKempGA) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BrianKempGA\/status\/1575971618790445056?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 30, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><\/span>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>In her own <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/staceyabrams\/status\/1576008238721474560?s=20&amp;t=Td0pyRhop1M7vqSEuBN6hQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">statement<\/a>, Abrams attempted to use the ruling as justification for why Georgia voters should elect her as governor instead of Kemp in November, saying that it \u201cdemonstrates that the 2022 election will be a referendum on how our state treats its most marginalized voices.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe conduct of this trial and preceding cases and legislative actions represent a hard-won victory for voters who endured long lines, burdensome date of birth requirements and exact match laws that disproportionately impact Black and Brown voters,\u201d Abrams said.<\/p>\n<p>Following her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/election\/2018\/results\/georgia\/governor\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2018 loss<\/a> to Kemp by roughly 55,000 votes, Abrams has repeatedly denied the Georgia Republican\u2019s legitimate victory and has gone on to blame her failures as a candidate on nonexistent voter suppression. After it became obvious that she would not force then-candidate Kemp into a runoff in 2018, for instance, Abrams <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ajc.com\/blog\/politics\/stacey-abrams-will-not-concede-because-the-erosion-our-democracy-not-right\/JQqttbuF09NYkMQbIYx9BM\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">told<\/a> a crowd of supporters that \u201cconcession means to acknowledge an action is right, true, or proper\u201d and that \u201cas a woman of conscience and faith, I cannot concede.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMake no mistake, the former Secretary of State was deliberate and intentional in his actions,\u201d she said. \u201cI know that eight years of systemic disenfranchisement, disinvestment and incompetence had its desired effect on the electoral process in Georgia.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Georgia Democrat went on to echo similar sentiments in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/media\/stacey-abrams-2018-georgia-gubernatorial-election-results\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">April 2019<\/a>, saying that she does \u201cnot concede that the process was proper\u201d and that she does not \u201ccondone that process.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In addition to her imaginary role as Georgia\u2019s rightful governor, Abrams has been at the forefront of attacking the state\u2019s recently enacted <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/04\/06\/atlanta-mayor-lies-about-georgia-voting-law-claims-it-prohibits-giving-water-to-voters-in-line\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">election law<\/a>. In March 2021, Abrams <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/politics\/live-news\/georgia-voting-restrictions-bill-03-25-21\/h_299f27574b50c49515e01520521768d9\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">referred <\/a>to state Republicans\u2019 efforts to enhance the integrity of Georgia\u2019s elections as \u201cnothing less than Jim Crow 2.0\u201d and accused lawmakers of using the bill to \u201csuppress the vote and seize electoral power.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Around the same time, President Joe Biden also <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/09\/26\/biden-hosts-atlanta-braves-at-white-house-after-pushing-mlb-to-boycott-their-city-for-all-star-game\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">repeated<\/a> the same \u201cJim Crow\u201d smear and encouraged the MLB to move its 2021 All-Star game from Atlanta to protest the signing of the bill into law.
