Governor and Democratic Senate candidate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/the-fetterman-files-pennsylvania-democrat-brings-baggage-to-senate-race\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">John Fetterman<\/a> appears to be waning in his race against Republican rival and celebrity cardiologist <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/dr-oz\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dr. Mehmet Oz<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Six weeks before residents of the Keystone State cast their ballots in one of the nation\u2019s most contentious races, Fetterman \u2014 the longtime mayor of Braddock, Pennsylvania, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/inside-the-blighted-rust-belt-town-where-john-fetterman-was-mayor\">declining rust belt town<\/a> east of Pittsburgh \u2014 is losing steam. A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/official-polls\/fox-news-poll-pennsylvania-senate-race-narrows\">survey<\/a> from Fox News released on Wednesday showed Fetterman leading Oz by 45% to 41% \u2014 a result within the poll\u2019s margin of error and a significant decline from the 11 percentage point advantage over Oz that Fetterman boasted in the same survey as of late July.<\/p>\n<p>Roughly 34% of voters are \u201cextremely or very worried\u201d that Fetterman\u2019s health will render him unable to complete his duties in the Senate \u2014 an 11 percentage point increase since three months ago. Fetterman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/hell-be-fine-pa-democratic-senate-nominee-cleared-by-doctor-to-campaign-after-suffering-a-stroke-days-before-primary\">suffered a stroke<\/a> days before the commonwealth\u2019s primary election and has since <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/new-john-fetterman-video-raises-questions-on-his-fitness-for-office-absolutely-cannot-debate-anyone\">stumbled<\/a> during speeches at multiple campaign events. Republicans and independents drove the rising concern over Fetterman\u2019s health.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, a <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/campaign\/3667715-fettermans-lead-over-oz-shrinks-in-pennsylvania-senate-race-poll\/\">poll<\/a> from Emerson College and The Hill showed Fetterman maintaining a two percentage point lead over Oz, with the two candidates backed by 45% and 43% of likely Pennsylvania voters, respectively. The poll results, which also fall within the margin of error, marked a decline from Fetterman\u2019s four percentage point lead in August. Respondents were similarly concerned about Fetterman\u2019s health, with the share of voters saying that his stroke makes no difference to them falling nine percentage points.<\/p>\n<p>A major criticism of Oz\u2019s candidacy has been his longtime residence in New Jersey. However, the share of voters affirming that they are less likely to support Oz because of his ties to the Garden State has fallen by 12 percentage points since August.<\/p>\n<p>The poll results come after former Pennsylvania Governor Tom Ridge, a moderate Republican who backed President Joe Biden two years ago, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/former-pennsylvania-governor-who-backed-biden-now-endorses-dr-oz\">penned an endorsement<\/a> for Oz. Ridge, who served as the nation\u2019s inaugural Secretary of Homeland Security, said in a statement that he trusts Oz to handle \u201cthe issues facing Pennsylvania and our nation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Former President Donald Trump also endorsed Oz. Allies of Oz told The Hill that the endorsements from Ridge and Trump are indicative of a broad Republican coalition forming behind the television doctor \u2014 although Oz <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/dr-oz-purges-website-of-trump-branding-after-winning-republican-primary\">erased branding<\/a> related to Trump after he emerged victorious from Pennsylvania\u2019s primary contest.<\/p>\n<p>T.J. Rooney, the former chairman of Pennsylvania\u2019s Democratic Party, likewise confirmed to The Hill that Ridge still carries sway in the commonwealth\u2019s political arena. \u201cThe notion that well-respected establishment Republicans are supporting Oz definitely sends a signal, there\u2019s no question about it,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Fetterman has faced criticism for his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/im-for-decriminalizing-across-the-board-john-fetterman-has-repeatedly-nodded-to-woke-drug-policy\">lengthy history<\/a> of backing monitored injection sites and drug decriminalization, as well as his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/john-fetterman-holds-rally-with-planned-parenthood-leadership\">support<\/a> of pro-abortion federal legislative proposals such as the Women\u2019s Health Protection Act, which would <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/senate-rejects-democrats-attempt-to-gut-state-pro-life-laws\">supersede<\/a> state-level abortion regulations.<\/p>\n<p>The Fetterman campaign\u2019s website recently featured a page discussing the nominee\u2019s commitment to Black Lives Matter, although the wording has since been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/democrat-john-fetterman-scrubs-black-lives-matter-section-from-campaign-website\">removed<\/a>.
