And since the leaders of this attack think strategically, it should come as no surprise that Virginia would be in the crosshairs of a new kind of battle to transform America. <\/p>\n<p>Virginia is the key state that gave birth to the United States, and this state has more historical sites than any other \u2014 approximately 130 in all. Yorktown and Appomattox Courthouse, both in Virginia, were the sites of the final battles of the Revolutionary War and the Civil War. Thus, America-haters know that if the history and culture of Virginia can be denigrated and rewritten, the rest of the country will be easier to take down.<\/p>\n<p>Four of the first five U.S. presidents came from Virginia. George Washington, who led the Continental Army to victory in the War of Independence, would become the first president. At the outset of that war, Thomas Jefferson, who drafted the Declaration of Independence, became the third president. James Madison, the fourth president of the United States, drafted the Constitution. James Monroe, the fifth and last president among the Founding Fathers, was the brave 18-year-old volunteer soldier holding the American flag in Emanuel Leutze\u2019s famous 1850 painting, \u201cWashington Crossing the Delaware,\u201d sitting in the boat right behind resolute commander-in-chief Washington.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout the ages, there has been a struggle between freedom and tyranny. The United States is the only country in the history of mankind specifically founded on ideas and principles that would establish and protect people\u2019s God-given rights and freedoms. It was Virginians who expressed these \u201cfirst principles\u201d in the Bill of Rights incorporated into the Constitution, and it is these first principles that are now under the fiercest attack in the present culture war to take down America.<\/p>\n<p>Former President Barack Obama stated shortly before his election in 2008 that his administration would transform America. It turns out that, in his adolescence, Obama was mentored for many years by Communist Party member Frank Marshall Davis. Above all, communists understand that the rewriting of history is essential to gaining and then holding political power. All countries that have succumbed to communist rule \u2014 Russia, China, North Korea, and Cuba \u2014 had their histories rewritten to erase any connection the people had with their past. Cancellation and erasure are key to transformation. Karl Marx himself wrote, \u201cTake away the heritage of a people and they are easily conquered.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>UVA Being \u2018Transformed\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>The University of Virginia (UVA), the only American university established by a Founding Father, Thomas Jefferson, embodied the spirit of our nation\u2019s reliance on \u201cthe best that has been thought and said.\u201d Jefferson\u2019s university was known for its superb academics, unique atmosphere of decency and honor, and its special ethos of honorable dignity mixed with good-hearted camaraderie. Jefferson designed his \u201cacademical village\u201d to promote ideas important to the 18th century, such as his observation that \u201cCommerce between master and slave is despotism. Nothing is more certainly written in the Book of Life than these people are to be free.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Increasingly, UVA\u2019s tradition of graceful order is being shredded by policies to fundamentally transform the university. For example, in the foyer of the highly trafficked Old Cabell Hall, which includes the auditorium in which incoming student orientation takes place, there are huge murals (some 10 to 25 feet tall) that display a female student\u2019s academic journey as an orgy of indecency, debauchery, and chaos. The murals, sponsored in part by the Office of the University President, are a spectacle showing illicit relationships between professors and students, references to death (skeletons, snakes, vultures, and rats), and even a glowering figure of Lenin.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\">\n<p><figcaption class=\"col-12 col-md-6 body-xs px-15 pe-md-0 ps-md-30 py-15 m-0 text-center\">UVA\u2019s mural<\/figcaption><\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>Admissions tours disparage Jefferson and include vulgar anecdotes and descriptions of riots and mayhem. Both the murals and tours mock the God-honoring vision of Jefferson, treating his ideals as shabbily as the bronze monuments of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbc29.com\/2021\/07\/12\/george-rogers-clark-statue-removed-uva-grounds\/#:~:text=CHARLOTTESVILLE%2C%20Va.,Visitors%20in%20September%20of%202020.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">George Rogers Clark<\/a> and another of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2021\/07\/12\/us\/sacagawea-lewis-and-clark-statue-charlottesville-virginia\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Meriwether Lewis and William Clark<\/a>, torn down last year. <\/p>\n<p>Who among woke faculty teaches that George Clark was a revolutionary war hero promoted to brigadier general in 1781 by then-Virginia Gov. Thomas Jefferson, and a key figure behind the Northwest Ordinance of 1787, which outlawed slavery in an unsettled vast territory that would become five Midwest states? Who mentions that it was Lewis and Clark who took great risks and made sacrifices to explore the Pacific Northwest and Oregon territories, and made claim for the U.S. before others from Europe did? Melody Barnes, formerly President Barack Obama\u2019s director of the Domestic Policy Council and now director of UVA\u2019s Democracy Institute and co-director at UVA\u2019s Democracy Initiative, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cvilletomorrow.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/3-Proposal-Jefferson-School.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">takes credit<\/a> for helping remove those statues.<\/p>\n<p>For the new UVA elite, Virginia history has no special significance or value. The university <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cvilletomorrow.org\/community-members-clash-in-tense-meeting-over-whether-to-remove-slaveholding-presidents-names-from-jefferson-madison-regional-library\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">supported a movement<\/a> to remove the names of Jefferson and Madison from the regional library, named 50 years ago to honor the special friendship between the two founders, who worked together to produce the Constitution.<\/p>\n<p>Jefferson and Madison and the other framers who gathered at the Constitutional Convention in 1787 had thoroughly studied democracy in all its forms and found them wanting \u2014 prone to corruption, intrigue, and abuse of power. That is the principal reason they arrived at a <em>constitutional republic<\/em> as the best form of government to protect people\u2019s rights and provide more opportunity for the diverse American people.<\/p>\n<h2>Similar Attacks at Washington and Lee University<\/h2>\n<p>In Lexington, Virginia, a similar assault on the state\u2019s history is taking place at Washington and Lee University, a school that was rehabilitated by Robert E. Lee after the Civil War, when he became university president. Lee was remarkable in being one of only two to graduate without a single demerit from West Point in its 220-year history. Additionally, he strongly opposed slavery and freed the slaves on the plantations inherited by his wife before Lincoln\u2019s Emancipation Proclamation.<\/p>\n<p>Surely these accomplishments \u2014 along with voluminous testimony that Lee was beloved and admired as much by Union soldiers who knew him as he was by the Confederates \u2014 constitute an honorable legacy. But the history-haters at Washington and Lee don\u2019t care. They fought to remove Lee\u2019s name from the university he saved and tried to <a href=\"https:\/\/theroanokestar.com\/2022\/09\/22\/the-disgraceful-desecration-of-lee-and-his-chapel\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">remove all vestiges of Lee<\/a> from the school\u2019s premises. It was decided to remove Lee\u2019s name from the chapel but leave the full-size marble statue of the \u201cRecumbent Lee\u201d located there. But now alumni must fight to prevent the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wluspectator.com\/home\/2022\/9\/16\/university-officials-have-not-publicly-acknowledged-life-safety-concerns-in-chapel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">erecting of a brick wall to conceal from public view this monument of Lee<\/a>. Apparently, cancel culture believes that if something cannot be seen, it no longer exists.<\/p>\n<p>Admissions tour guides disparage Lee just as tour guides disparage Jefferson in Charlottesville. In late summer 2022, a student tour guide, who felt compelled to state his pronouns, summed up how he and others like to think about the very intentional alienating of affections they perform at Washington and Lee: \u201cWe kept the outside, the shell, and on the inside, we\u2019re changing and evolving.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Other Schools\u2019 Erasure of History<\/h2>\n<p>Under Gov. Ralph Northam, and now Gov. Glenn Youngkin, many colleges across the state experience the same. The Virginia Military Institute removed the statue of Gen. Thomas Jonathan \u201cStonewall\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vmi.edu\/news\/headlines\/2020-2021\/vmi-begins-to-relocate-the-stonewall-jackson-statue.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Jackson<\/a>, an orphan who persevered to great heights through discipline and Christian faith in God, becoming a dedicated and beloved teacher of cadets as well as black Sunday school students. Jackson\u2019s name was <a href=\"https:\/\/wtop.com\/virginia\/2021\/05\/vmi-board-votes-to-remove-stonewall-jacksons-name-from-buildings\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sand-blasted off his famous arch<\/a>, completely erasing him \u2014 along with his exemplary character, resolve, and military skill \u2014 as though he never existed.<\/p>\n<p>Virginia\u2019s community colleges have had names stripped: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rappnews.com\/news\/schools\/name-change-of-lord-fairfax-community-college-now-laurel-ridge-community-college-takes-effect\/article_150dd9ac-e34e-11ec-b838-9b75e6b1564b.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Lord Fairfax<\/a> Community College has become \u201cLaurel Ridge;\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wric.com\/news\/education\/john-tyler-officially-becomes-brightpoint-community-college\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">John Tyler<\/a> (another former U.S. president) has become \u201cBrightpoint.\u201d James Madison\u2019s namesake university has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jmu.edu\/news\/2020\/07\/07-bov-approves-renaming.shtml\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">removed reference<\/a> to those with significant accomplishments, such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.history.navy.mil\/content\/history\/nhhc\/research\/library\/online-reading-room\/title-list-alphabetically\/m\/matthew-fontaine-maury-benefactor-of-mankind.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Matthew Fontaine Maury<\/a>, founder of the sciences of meteorology and oceanography, and developer of warfare submarines. Similar agendas have wrought their erasure of history at the <a href=\"https:\/\/fredericksburg.com\/news\/state-and-regional\/university-of-richmond-removes-t-c-williams-from-law-school-name\/article_eeb6430d-8141-5923-89ee-51a3954d9812.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">University of Richmond<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/story\/removal-of-cross-from-virginia-college-chapel-causes-stir-among-students-alumni\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">William and Mary<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/changing-america\/respect\/diversity-inclusion\/550699-virginia-schools-to-change-names-from\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">many high schools<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>These changes at Virginia\u2019s iconic academic institutions have all the signs of the totalitarian dystopia that George Orwell described in his classic, \u201c1984,\u201d wherein, \u201cEvery record has been destroyed or falsified \u2026 every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed. \u2026 And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Virginia\u2019s House Museums Go Woke<\/h2>\n<p>Virginia\u2019s house museums have been affected by the appointment of woke personnel to foundations and trusts that oversee the properties, as well as an influx of money. The Thomas Jefferson Foundation, on whose board of trustees Melody Barnes has served, and which administers and manages Monticello \u2014 the home of Thomas Jefferson \u2014 was the recipient of a $20 million gift from David M. Rubenstein, a co-founder of the Carlyle Group.<\/p>\n<p>The woke remake of Monticello facilitated by Rubenstein\u2019s money has turned the home and grounds of the Jefferson estate into a critical race theory indoctrination tour. Visitors are bombarded with unending references and slander of Jefferson as being a slaveholder. Omitted are such monumental ideas of forward-looking progress expressed by Jefferson in the Declaration of Independence such as \u201call men are created equal.\u201d Nowhere is there so much as a mention that <em>his<\/em> document was the first government edict <em>anywhere<\/em> with a vision to end slavery.<\/p>\n<p>At Montpelier, home of Madison, similarly affected by $10 million from Rubenstein, <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/07\/16\/james-madison-sidelined-by-woke-history-in-his-own-home\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">not one American flag<\/a> flies on its 2,650-acre site. Madison\u2019s beliefs, which led to the drafting of the U.S Constitution and the Bill of Rights, are sacrificed to a fixation on slavery and racism. The bookstore is replete with works on <a href=\"https:\/\/therepublicanstandard.com\/featured\/james-madisons-wokepelier-how-crt-is-taking-over-the-founders\/cicero\/2022\/07\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">critical race theory<\/a>, rather than on the profound thinking and ideals that motivated the Father of the Constitution.<\/p>\n<p>In conclusion, it is increasingly obvious to many with a generation or more memory of Americana that the United States is undergoing a sweeping, Communist-type revolution \u2014 one that is not dissimilar from the Chinese cultural revolution. What stands in the way of the completion of this domestic communist revolution are the Judeo-Christian values that still reside in our culture and documents conceived of and fought for by Virginians:\u00a0the Declaration of Independence, Northwest Ordinance of 1787, Constitution of the United States, and the Federalist Papers.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>America\u2019s enemies know they cannot win on the battlefield of ideas because truth will win over falsehood. Their method of operation is to destroy America piecemeal, through its culture, using Marxist tools of demoralization and division. Virginia is the kingpin of the strike that takes down the other states and the country.<\/p>\n<p>C.K. Chesterton reminds us that \u201cthe disadvantage of men not knowing the past is that they do not know the present.\u201d Virginia\u2019s political leaders and philanthropists need to wake up. The hour is late, and it is time to get out of denial that so much of what is happening is playing into the hands of our enemies, who want to strip us of our virtuous heritage so that they may subdue America without firing a shot.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\" \/>\n<div class=\"article-author-description fst-italic\">\n  Scott S.
