The states that have filed lawsuits include Nebraska, Arkansas, Missouri, Kansas, South Carolina and Arizona.<\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1663871513696-art-1\">\n<\/div>\n<p>Attorney General Leslie Rutledge (R-Ark.) spoke about the lawsuit on Thursday. <\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cPresident Biden\u2019s unlawful political play puts the self-wrought college-loan debt on the backs of millions of hardworking Americans who are struggling to pay their utility bills and home loans in the midst of Biden\u2019s inflation,\u201d Rutledge said. \u201cPresident Biden does not have the power to arbitrarily erase the college debt of adults who chose to take out those loans.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote data-service=\"twitter\" data-category=\"marketing\" data-placeholder-image=\"https:\/\/c3.oann.com\/wp-content\/plugins\/complianz-gdpr\/assets\/images\/placeholders\/twitter-minimal.jpg\" class=\"cmplz-placeholder-element twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Citing an alleged separation of powers violation, Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge (R) announces Arkansas and five other states are suing the Biden administration over its student debt cancellation plan. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/creQSg6hDY\">pic.twitter.com\/creQSg6hDY<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 The Recount (@therecount) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/therecount\/status\/1575526440593940485?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 29, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>The lawsuit filed in federal court alleged that the administration\u2019s actions are illegal. It claims that the administration is trying to use the pandemic as grounds to cancel loan debt. Critics pointed out that in a 60 Minutes interview, Biden recently declared the COVID-19 pandemic to be over.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><\/figure>\n<p>Meanwhile, the plan is intended to cancel up to $20,000 of debt per individual.
