The policy explicitly states that these conditions apply to \u201cany past U.S. Presidential election.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s likely why when journalist Matt Orfalea, author of the \u201cCensored News\u201d Substack and contributor at TK News, tried to upload a compilation of Democrats claiming that Trump was an illegitimate president because he \u201ccheated,\u201d the video was instantly demonetized. <\/p>\n<p>The less-than-five-minute video simply shows media clips of Democrats like current White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, failed 2016 presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, and now-Vice President Kamala Harris who, without any credible evidence to back their denialism, all spread lies and misinformation about the 2016 election with the hopes of undermining the newly-elected Trump. <\/p>\n<p>The video also features corporate media talking heads, late-night hosts, former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki, and even Saturday Night Live characters repeating the lie that \u201cRussia hacked our election.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<span class=\"4b0m\"><\/p>\n[embedded content]\n<p><\/span>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>YouTube\u2019s email disclosing the censorship <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/mtaibbi\/status\/1575550047353458688?s=20&amp;t=GG4KuehGFOIuM1hw4f1CLw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">declared<\/a> the video \u201cisn\u2019t suitable for all advertisers\u201d and limited the compilation to \u201crun limited or no ads.\u201d The email also stated that the decision to bar the video from making money was made as part of a \u201cmanual\u201d review by someone on the YouTube team. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><\/figure>\n<p>TK News founder Matt Taibbi announced the censorship in <a href=\"https:\/\/taibbi.substack.com\/p\/youtube-demonetizes-tk-content?utm_source=email\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">an article<\/a> on his Substack on Thursday. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019d like to thank YouTube for making our point,\u201d Taibbi wrote. \u201cThe material in this video does not promote the idea that any election was stolen or illegitimate. On the contrary, it shows a great mass of comments from Democratic partisans and pundits who themselves make that claim, about the 2016 election.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As Taibbi noted further down in the column, Democrats that peddled election misinformation in 2016 were not censored for their brazen denial. Instead, their baseless doubts were rewarded with incessant media coverage that continues <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/06\/21\/hillary-clinton-doubts-election-results-while-claiming-doing-so-is-treason\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">to this day<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cHowever, the decision to assemble these materials in one place, inviting audiences to consider their meaning, apparently crosses a line,\u201d Taibbi continued. \u201cNow we know: you can deny election results on a platform like YouTube as much as you want, you can even promise disruption, but drawing attention to such behavior angers the algorithm. It\u2019s hard to imagine a better demonstration of the double-standard in content moderation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>More Democrats <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/01\/06\/poll-more-democrats-denied-trump-won-where-were-democracy-fears-then\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">denied<\/a> that Trump won the 2016 election than Americans who claimed President Joe Biden wasn\u2019t legitimately elected in 2020. <\/p>\n<p>In 2020, Democrats that objected to every GOP certification this century called Sen. Josh Hawley\u2019s election concerns a \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2020\/12\/31\/dems-call-hawleys-election-concerns-coup-attempt-after-objecting-to-every-gop-certification-this-century\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">coup attempt<\/a>.\u201d Prominent Democrats such as Hillary Clinton and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2019\/06\/28\/politics\/jimmy-carter-trump-russia-interference\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">former President Jimmy Carter<\/a> supported the theory that Trump was illegitimately elected. More than <a href=\"https:\/\/time.com\/4635411\/democrats-boycotting-donald-trumps-inauguration\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">1 in 4 House Democrats<\/a>\u00a0boycotted the Republican\u2019s inauguration celebrations in 2017.<\/p>\n<p>Yet, it was election integrity supporters who asked questions about the 2020 election that were <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/01\/07\/youtube-will-ban-all-videos-highlighting-voter-fraud\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">suppressed by YouTube<\/a> and other Big Tech companies. <\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\" \/>\n<p>\n  Jordan Boyd is a staff writer at The Federalist and co-producer of The Federalist Radio Hour.
