Since Biden took office in January 2021, the United States has\u00a0committed approximately $16.9 billion in security assistance to Ukraine. Prior to Russia\u2019s invasion of Ukraine on Feb. 24,\u00a0the United States had committed around $1.8 billion in weapons and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/t-military\">military<\/a> training to Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p> Funding High-Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems <\/p>\n<p>DOD said the assistance will fund\u00a018 of the High-Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems or HIMARS, which\u00a0have a range of about 40 miles and can strike faraway targets with greater accuracy. Officials say\u00a0HIMARS have played a key role in Ukraine\u2019s successes against Russia in recent weeks.
