at this revelation,\u00a0adding \u201cEither Twitter is going to fix this, or we\u2019ll fix it by any means we can, which includes not buying Twitter ads.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In a Monday tweet, Ghost Data founder Andrew Stroppa revealed that his research found that Twitter \u201chas a severe problem with child pornography,\u201d but that the public release of the report would be delayed because it is \u201ca sensitive topic.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\"><\/blockquote>\n<p>Stroppa, an Italian Data Scientist who has previously battled online bots for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.weforum.org\/agenda\/2018\/02\/how-we-banished-bad-bots-from-davos\/\">World Economic Forum<\/a>\u2019s annual Davos meeting, has more recently made <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breakinglatest.news\/health\/musk-wants-the-names-of-those-who-counted-the-fake-accounts-on-twitter-and-he-confronts-an-italian-2\/\">headlines<\/a> for his apparent involvement in the <a href=\"https:\/\/thepostmillennial.com\/elon-musk-plans-to-countersue-twitter-in-effort-to-blow-up-44b-buyout-report\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Elon Musk Twitter Bot Battles<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Now, Stroppa says he personally funded research into Twitter\u2019s child sexual abuse problem after a tipster turned his attention to the issue.<\/p>\n<p>Eliza Bleu, a <a href=\"https:\/\/humanevents.com\/2022\/06\/15\/bleu-the-eu-is-using-child-sexual-abuse-to-excuse-privacy-rights-violations\/\"><em>Human Events<\/em> contributor<\/a> and human trafficking survivor advocate has drawn public attention to Twitter\u2019s repeated\u00a0severe mishandling of child sexual abuse material posted on the platform. She says that if advertisers have any compassion for children or other vulnerable populations, they should pull their ads from Twitter immediately.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTwitter could have dealt with their child sexual abuse material problem at scale long ago. Instead, they chose to put the censorship of words over removing human rights violations committed against children. The initial child sexual abuse is not Twitter\u2019s fault. The failure to remove it at scale and in a timely fashion is,\u201d said Bleu.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf advertisers truly care about vulnerable populations they will remove their advertisements from Twitter at once. It\u2019s time to hit Twitter where it hurts. This is the only language abusers understand.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI will continue to stand by the two minor survivors suing Twitter. I applaud them for their bravery,\u201d Bleu added.<\/p>\n<p>The cases Bleu references are not new news. In one case, Homeland Security had to step in to force the removal of images and videos of a teenage sex trafficking victim. Twitter had refused to remove the material, claiming that it did not \u201cviolate policies.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A federal lawsuit <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2021\/01\/21\/twitter-sued-for-allegedly-refusing-to-remove-child-porn\/\">filed by the victim<\/a> and his mother alleges that the minor male was lured into sharing sexually explicit images of himself with traffickers who posed as a teenage girl and then used the images to blackmail the boy into sending explicit videos of himself and another child.<\/p>\n<p>After requesting ID from the child, known only as John Doe, to prove his age, Twitter eventually responded notifying the family that the images would not be removed.<\/p>\n<p>At that point, the material had already been viewed 167,000 times.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat do you mean you don\u2019t see a problem?\u201d Doe responded upon receiving Twitter\u2019s decision. \u201cWe both are minors right now and were minors at the time these videos were taken. We both were 13 years of age. We were baited, harassed, and threatened to take these videos that are now being posted without our permission. We did not authorize these videos AT ALL and they need to be taken down.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Twitter employees themselves admit that the platform for whatever reason is ill-equipped to moderate content for \u201cchild sexual exploitation and non-consensual nudity at scale.\u201d An <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/23327809\/twitter-onlyfans-child-sexual-content-problem-elon-musk\">internal report<\/a> from a team tasked with assessing the viability of a plan to position Twitter as an OnlyFans competitor determined that the company needed to shelve its plan to monetize adult content. Why?
