Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., and Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., who vice-chairs the committee. \u201cWe\u2019re praying for the safety of all those in the storm\u2019s path.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>No new date has been announced yet, though the hearing will almost certainly take place just before the November midterms. In March, Democrats on the House probe <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/03\/19\/democrats-admit-jan-6-committee-is-all-about-midterms\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">acknowledged<\/a> the committee\u2019s work was all about smearing the opposition ahead of the fall elections, with hearings carefully choreographed to coincide with the contests. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cTheir challenge: Making the public care deeply \u2014 and read hundreds of pages more \u2014 about an event that happened more than a year ago, and that many Americans feel they already understand,\u201d The Washington Post reported.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p><em>They\u2019ll attempt to do so this spring through public hearings, along with a potential interim report and a final report that will be published ahead of the November midterms \u2014 with the\u00a0<\/em><strong>findings likely a key part of the Democrats midterm strategy<\/strong><em>. They hope their recommendations to prevent another insurrection will be adopted, but also that their work will repel voters from Republicans who they say helped propel the attack.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The committee held eight hearings throughout the summer complete with <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/07\/22\/j6-committee-hires-another-television-producer-to-dramatize-show-trials\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">television producers<\/a> hired to dramatize the proceedings, which are straight out of <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/06\/10\/the-j6-inquisition-is-an-obvious-soviet-style-show-trial\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Soviet Moscow\u2019s 1937 playbook<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>From early June to the end of July, committee lawmakers <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/06\/16\/j6-committee-ignores-capitol-security-failures-in-hearing-focused-on-mike-pence\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">routinely <\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/07\/13\/jan-6-committee-avoids-probing-security-failures-as-hearing-finally-covers-capitol-riot\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ignored<\/a> the Capitol security failures on Jan. 6 to focus on <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/06\/13\/second-j6-hearing-criminalizes-republicans-for-election-objections-after-democrats-made-them-for-decades\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">criminalizing<\/a> objections to electoral certification and smearing political opponents with <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/07\/11\/jan-6-committee-admits-it-isnt-even-trying-to-verify-bombshell-claims\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">disinformation<\/a>. Fabricated timelines have also become a <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/07\/19\/ap-spreads-disinformation-by-adopting-j6-committees-fabricated-timeline\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">main staple<\/a> of the televised hearings.<\/p>\n<p>The summer hearings unearthed so little substance that in July Rep. Cheney, who lost her reelection bid in a primary last month, <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/07\/22\/democrats-announce-season-2-of-jan-6-saga-after-this-weeks-finale-ended-with-a-dud\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">announced<\/a> season two set for September. Season two, however, will now be moved closer to Election Day as Democrats weigh whether to demand former President Donald Trump and former Vice President Mike Pence testify before the committee. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have far more evidence to share with the American people and more to gather,\u201d Cheney said. <\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\" \/>\n<p>\n  Tristan Justice is the western correspondent for The Federalist.
