However, Eric Perry says the new series, which was created by Ryan Murphy, has brought up painful memories for his family.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not telling anyone what to watch, I know true crime media is huge rn, but if you\u2019re actually curious about the victims, my family (the Isbell\u2019s) are pissed about this show. It\u2019s retraumatizing over and over again, and for what? How many movies\/shows\/documentaries do we need?\u201d Perry <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ericthulhu\/status\/1572996958884700160\">tweeted<\/a> the day after the series became available.<\/p>\n<p>He shared a video of courtroom footage of his cousin Rita Isbell, the sister of victim Errol Lindsey, rushing Dahmer before she was stopped by courtroom security alongside the same scene depicted on \u201cMonster.\u201d<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">I\u2019m not telling anyone what to watch, I know true crime media is huge rn, but if you\u2019re actually curious about the victims, my family (the Isbell\u2019s) are pissed about this show. WIIIIIILD.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dahmer is one of the most notorious serial killers of the twentieth century. He\u2019s known for murdering 17 people from the 70s until the early 90s. His crimes have been explored in multiple movies, TV shows, and podcasts, with \u201cMonster\u201d as the latest version. Actor Evan Peters stars as Dahmer.<\/p>\n<p>Perry shared in later tweets that families are not always notified when these types of projects are being made.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOk, I did not expect that tweet to get this much attention,\u201d he <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ericthulhu\/status\/1573155975795822592\">wrote<\/a>. \u201cTo answer the main question, no, they don\u2019t notify families when they do this. It\u2019s all public record, so they don\u2019t have to notify (or pay!) anyone. My family found out when everyone else did.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He continued: \u201cSo when they say they\u2019re doing this \u2018with respect to the victims\u2019 or \u2018honoring the dignity of the families,\u2019 no one contacts them. My cousins wake up every few months at this point with a bunch of calls and messages and they know there\u2019s another Dahmer show.
