Gen. James Eifert on Monday told reporters that the Pentagon\u2019s vaccine mandate does not impact the state\u2019s capacity to activate unvaccinated service members to deal with a natural disaster such as a hurricane.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe vaccine mandate does not impact our ability to bring people in on state active duty \u2026 we will be activating all of those people [who are unvaccinated],\u201d he <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/FLVoiceNews\/status\/1574420364234739712?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1574420364234739712%7Ctwgr%5E14598fb8f85ece17a72e503e71476466d0c8149d%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.thegatewaypundit.com%2F2022%2F09%2Fflorida-national-guard-general-will-activating-unvaccinated-service-members-response-hurricane-ian-video%2F\">remarked<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin mandated that all service members receive COVID-19 vaccination and that\u00a0 National Guardsmen who refuse to get the shots must obtain a religious or medical exemption or face repercussions. Some Guard members could face a loss of wages and cannot train, while those who continue to refuse the vaccine can be potentially discharged, according to the Department of Defense.<\/p>\n<p>Numerous lawsuits have been filed against the Pentagon due to its mandate, while some lawmakers have questioned whether such orders are putting a damper on the U.S. armed forces\u2019 recruitment efforts. And earlier this month, former Secretary of Defense Mark Esper <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/mkt_app\/former-pentagon-chief-warns-us-military-struggling-to-find-new-recruits_4740013.html\">warned<\/a> that several branches of the military are severely \u201cstruggling\u201d to find recruits.<\/p>\n<p> Storm Path <\/p>\n<p>The National Hurricane Center (NHC) on Monday afternoon <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhc.noaa.gov\/text\/refresh\/MIATCPAT4+shtml\/262100.shtml\">said<\/a> Ian is a Category 2 system with 100 mph winds. The storm has strengthened since Monday morning when forecasters said it was a Category 1 storm with wind speeds hovering around 85 mph.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, hurricane warnings have now been issued for the central western Florida coastline, including Tampa Bay, indicating the storm is going to impact the area in the next 24 to 36 hours.
