In her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/debate\/article-11246335\/LIZ-TRUSS-long-politicians-fought-slice-economic-pie.html\">article<\/a> for The Daily Mail, Truss said that lawmakers had emphasized agendas prioritizing redistribution rather than growth.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor too long, politicians have fought over how to slice up the economic pie,\u201d she explained. \u201cWe will focus instead on growing the pie to the benefit of families and businesses.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Most European countries have a progressive income tax structure, by which higher earners pay a larger portion of their salaries than lower earners. At the beginning of this year, Britain had a top personal income tax rate of 45% \u2014 a figure lower than most European countries, yet higher than the 37% rate in the United States, according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/taxfoundation.org\/top-personal-income-tax-rates-europe-2022\/#:~:text=Denmark%20(55.9%20percent)%2C%20France,lowest%20personal%20income%20top%20rates.\">report<\/a> from the Tax Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople know better than any government what to do with their hard-earned money,\u201d Truss continued. \u201cAnd so we have set out our clear plan to deliver \u00a345 billion of tax cuts in what will be the biggest tax-cutting package for generations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As Europe faces soaring energy prices, the British government announced a new round of oil and gas leases for the North Sea and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/strengthening-our-energy-resilience-britain-ends-fracking-ban-will-become-net-exporter-by-2040\">lifted its moratorium<\/a> on shale gas production. The ban was initially established three years ago amid concerns over earthquakes. Meanwhile, member states of the European Union \u2014 which Britain exited in early 2020 \u2014 have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/european-union-social-market-economy-might-redistribute-fossil-fuel-profits\">pushed renewable power<\/a> amid the energy crisis in accordance with the <a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/clima\/eu-action\/climate-strategies-targets\/2050-long-term-strategy_en\">goal<\/a> of becoming \u201ca climate-neutral society\u201d by 2050.<\/p>\n<p>Truss also introduced a proposal to limit the annual cost of power for a typical household to \u00a32,500 for the next two years. The nation\u2019s government had already <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/guidance\/getting-the-energy-bills-support-scheme-discount\">greenlit<\/a> the Energy Bills Support Scheme, slated to remove \u00a3400 from residents\u2019 power bills each month over the upcoming winter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur energy scheme will save the typical household \u00a31,000 a year on their bills and roughly halve the cost of business energy bills,\u201d she wrote. \u201cWe believe people should be in control of their lives and keep more of the money they earn.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Truss, who succeeded fellow Conservative Party member Boris Johnson earlier this month, has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/new-british-prime-ministers-agenda-draws-comparisons-to-reaganomics\">drawn comparisons<\/a> to her predecessor, former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, as well as former U.S. President Ronald Reagan. She said in the opinion piece that her government is on the side of \u201call those who take responsibility and do the right thing, from setting up their own businesses to working hard and aspiring to a better life for themselves and their family.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will get Britain moving by cementing our status as the best place in the world to do business.
