Accordingly, we believe that you possess information relating to our investigation and we request your assistance with our inquiry,\u201d the letter says.<\/p>\n<p>The letter was signed by Rep. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/t-jim-jordan\">Jim Jordan<\/a> (R-Ohio), the committee\u2019s ranking member, and Rep. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/t-darrell-issa\">Darrell Issa<\/a> (R-Calif.) and Rep. Mike Johnson (R-La.).<\/p>\n<p>Before leaving the FBI, Thibault was an assistant special agent in charge at the bureau\u2019s Washington Field Office.<\/p>\n<p>Thibault came under close scrutiny in late July after FBI whistleblowers <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/fbi-wrongly-labeled-derogatory-information-on-hunter-biden-as-disinformation-whistleblowers_4622264.html\">told<\/a> Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) that the former FBI official \u201cordered closed\u201d information the bureau had obtained about Hunter Biden\u2019s \u201ccriminal financial and related activity\u201d in 2020.<\/p>\n<p> <a href=\"https:\/\/img.theepochtimes.com\/assets\/uploads\/2022\/04\/25\/GettyImages-1233045326-1200x800-1200x800.jpg\"><\/a> Hunter Biden walks to Marine One on the Ellipse outside the White House in Washington on May 22, 2021. (Brendan Smialowski\/AFP via Getty Images) <\/p>\n<p>Grassley has also exposed (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.grassley.senate.gov\/imo\/media\/doc\/CEG%20to%20DOJ%20OIG%20(WFO).pdf\">pdf<\/a>) how Thibault had displayed a political bias against former President Donald Trump, as evident by his Twitter activities. For example, Thibault once shared a Twitter post that called Trump \u201ca psychologically broken, embittered, and deeply unhappy man.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, Thibault\u2019s lawyers with Morrison &#038; Foerster LLP <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/republicans-respond-after-top-fbi-agent-reportedly-resigns_4698636.html\">told<\/a> The Epoch Times in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/fbi-official-accused-of-blocking-probe-into-hunter-biden-says-he-retired-wasnt-fired_4701294.html\">statement<\/a> in August that he did not show any political partisanship in his work and \u201cdid not<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Timothy Thibault, a former top FBI official who left the bureau last month, has been warned not to alter or destroy documents and communications in his possession, particularly those connected to his work on the Hunter Biden investigation.
