A person familiar with Bartos\u2019 thinking told the outlet that \u201che was proud to support his wife and was there at her request to accompany her.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Oz, who is running against Pennsylvania Lt. Governor and Democratic Senate candidate John Fetterman, was among the most polarizing candidates for the Republican Senate nomination. Roughly 48% of voters maintained a \u201csomewhat or strongly unfavorable opinion\u201d of the candidate during the primary contest, according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/emersonpolling.reportablenews.com\/pr\/pennsylvania-2022-poll-oz-leads-as-barnette-surges-mccormick-stays-in-contention-in-final-stage-of-gop-senate-race\">poll<\/a> from Emerson College. Oz <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/watch-fox-news-grills-senate-candidate-dr-oz-on-when-life-begins-oz-refuses-to-answer\">raised eyebrows<\/a> last year following an interview in which he claimed to be \u201cpro-life\u201d with the exception of rape, incest, and \u201chealth for the mother.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>State Sen. Doug Mastriano, the Republican gubernatorial candidate, is likewise controversial. Though he appears to be more popular with conservatives, he has faced accusations of denying the 2020 election results.<\/p>\n<p>A recent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.muhlenberg.edu\/aboutus\/polling\/politicselectionssurveys\/archivedpolls\/2022pennsylvaniamidtermelectionsurvey\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">survey<\/a> from Morning Call and Muhlenberg College found that Oz trails Fetterman by 5%, while Shapiro leads Mastriano by 11%. In another <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1LNvXkny4ZBWWVm-ZPgoitQp6ae_kTAeQ\/view\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">poll<\/a> from CBS News and YouGov, Fetterman was supported by 52% of respondents, while Oz was backed by 47%. Voters also indicated a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/pennsylvania-republicans-face-uphill-battles-in-final-weeks-of-midterm-race\">higher degree of favorability<\/a> for the former candidate \u2014 56% of Fetterman supporters said they are pulling the lever for him \u201cmainly because\u201d they like him, while only 15% of Oz voters said the same about their preferred candidate.<\/p>\n<p>Democrats are hoping that Fetterman will add to a majority in the evenly divided Senate. However, Fetterman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/hell-be-fine-pa-democratic-senate-nominee-cleared-by-doctor-to-campaign-after-suffering-a-stroke-days-before-primary\">suffered a stroke<\/a> days before the commonwealth\u2019s primary election and has since <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/new-john-fetterman-video-raises-questions-on-his-fitness-for-office-absolutely-cannot-debate-anyone\">stumbled<\/a> and lost his train of thought during speeches at multiple campaign events. Roughly 41% of voters believe that Fetterman is not in \u201cgood enough health\u201d to serve in office.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the Fetterman campaign has repeatedly criticized Oz for his longtime residence in New Jersey. Only 33% of voters believe that Oz has been in Pennsylvania \u201clong enough to understand the state\u2019s issues.\u201d While 71% of poll respondents said that they would have preferred \u201csomeone different\u201d to headline the Republican ticket, 51% said the same about the Democratic ticket.<\/p>\n<p>Due to the Supreme Court\u2019s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, the Keystone State \u2014 which has a Republican-led legislature \u2014 is likely to debate legislation related to abortion after the midterms.
