And it could possibly bring them one step closer to charging NFL legend Brett Favre.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/frontofficesports.com\/former-state-officials-plea-deal-could-mean-trouble-for-brett-favre\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Front Office Sports<\/a>, \u201cDavis had previously been indicted for more than two dozen state and federal charges as part of the scheme. Nancy New, the head of a nonprofit used to funnel welfare funds, pleaded guilty to 13 felonies for her role in the fraud in April.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>Along with Miss. Gov. Phil Bryant, Davis was one of the officials who helped Favre <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/sports\/2022\/09\/02\/report-brett-favre-questioned-by-fbi-in-mississippi-welfare-fraud-scandal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">obtain<\/a> $5 million in welfare funds to have a volleyball court built at the University of Mississippi, the school where his daughter was playing the sport at the time.<\/p>\n<p>A source to Front Office Sports <a href=\"https:\/\/frontofficesports.com\/former-state-officials-plea-deal-could-mean-trouble-for-brett-favre\/\">says<\/a> that Favre has been on the \u201cradar\u201d of investigators for months.<\/p>\n<p>Favre could also be in trouble for what he told the FBI. According to Front office Sports, Favre was asked; \u201cWere you ever in Tupelo, Mississippi.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>Favre said he was there when he was a child. Though, Matt Tympanick,\u00a0a veteran federal criminal defense attorney and founder of Tympanick Law, seems to think the FBI had a good reason for asking Favre that question.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFBI agents don\u2019t ask questions they don\u2019t know the answer to,\u201d Tympanick explained. \u201cYou ask that because lying to a federal agent in federal matter is a felony. They had to have thought he\u2019d been there in furtherance of a conspiracy otherwise they wouldn\u2019t ask him that question.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Aside from that, there is a series of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/sports\/2022\/09\/13\/report-text-messages-reveal-former-mississippi-governor-helped-brett-favre-secure-welfare-funds-volleyball-stadium\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">text messages<\/a> between Favre and Gov. Bryant that have been made public.<\/p>\n<p>The messages appear to show that Favre was concerned about where the money was coming from and the ability of the media to discover its origin.
