Police say Brandt was drunk when he used his SUV to strike and kill Ellingson before he called 911 around 2:30 a.m. Sunday. Brandt was released from custody Tuesday, after posting $50,000 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kvrr.com\/2022\/09\/21\/man-accused-of-intentionally-running-down-teen-out-on-bail\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">bond<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Despite court documents showing Brandt admit his motive for allegedly killing Ellingson, the AP conveniently hid Brandt\u2019s obvious antagonism against Republicans, writing that Brandt hit Ellingson because of an ambiguous \u201cpolitical argument.\u201d AP failed to include that Brandt appeared to target Ellingson for being a part of \u201ca Republican extremist group,\u201d language that mirrors \u2014 as The Federalist\u2019s Jordan Boyd\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/09\/21\/man-charged-with-killing-teen-echoed-bidens-republican-extremism-rhetoric-to-justify-his-act\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">pointed out<\/a>\u00a0\u2014 President Joe Biden\u2019s recent rhetoric describing Trump and his base as \u201ca threat to the very soul of this county\u201d who are willing \u201cto engage in political violence.\u201d Of course, now that evidence exists showing the opposite, corporate media are loath to admit it.<\/p>\n<p>And they\u2019re not only refusing to admit it, they\u2019re trying to keep readers from hearing it. A presumably unarmed 18-year-old was allegedly chased, run over, and killed by a man who said he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whio.com\/news\/trending\/driver-admits-intentionally-hitting-teen-after-political-argument-police-say\/DSSCP5NOYJF2BHOJVVRAESICJM\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">felt threatened<\/a> by the teen\u2019s Republican political views. Change the teenager\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/article\/ahmaud-arbery-shooting-georgia.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">race<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/local\/public-safety\/police-identify-man-fatally-shot-in-bloomingdale\/2016\/07\/11\/4236fd1a-4754-11e6-90a8-fb84201e0645_story.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">politics<\/a>, or <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/matthew-shepard-north-america-us-news-ap-top-news-crime-10235168c63041a0909ae6c0303cece7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sexuality<\/a>, and corporate media would\u2019ve been all over it. AP\u2019s decision to omit THE key detail surrounding Ellingson\u2019s murder is akin to lying. And that is why the American public is so disgusted with the corporate media, because they see the industry for what it is: the propaganda wing of the Democrat Party.<\/p>\n<p>For years the American public has watched corporate media intentionally cover up inconvenient facts \u2014 or straight up lie. And they\u2019re no longer taking it at face value. After all, how many times has the AP intentionally printed lies and peddled misinformation for Democrats?<\/p>\n<p>Here are a few examples:<\/p>\n<p>Back when Donald Trump was president, the AP reported on the alleged abuse of detained child migrants, trying to frame Trump as the architect of said abuse. What the AP failed to mention, however, was that the incident\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/donald-trump?source=%2Fnews%2Fap-report-on-alleged-illegal-immigrant-abuse-at-detention-centers-omits-obama-was-president-at-time\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">occurred<\/a>\u00a0while President Barack Obama was still in office. <\/p>\n<p>The AP\u2019s construing of Brandt\u2019s admitted anti-Republican motive as a vague \u201cpolitical argument\u201d is reminiscent of corporate outlets\u2019 coverage of Darrell Brooks Jr., who allegedly rammed his car through a Christmas parade in Waukesha, Wisconsin, killing six people. Brooks had a <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/11\/24\/suspect-charged-in-waukesha-tragedy-called-for-violence-against-white-people\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">history<\/a> of calling for violence against white people, but media outlets including the AP simplistically <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/suv-plows-into-parade-waukesha-wisconsin-injured-f8c6a9dcd420bc1f1a732afc7b10943a\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">characterized<\/a> the slaughter as \u201cSUV hits Christmas parade,\u201d as if the car was at fault rather than the politically inconvenient driver.<\/p>\n<p>Other \u201cslips\u201d from AP include characterizing the deadly George Floyd riots \u2014 which caused $2 billion in property damage \u2014 as \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/03\/05\/ap-reporter-calls-fatal-george-floyd-riots-that-caused-2-billion-in-damages-nonviolent\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">nonviolent<\/a>,\u201d falsely\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/10\/06\/ridiculous-ap-fact-check-claims-school-boards-association-didnt-ask-biden-to-label-parents-as-domestic-terrorists\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">claiming<\/a>\u00a0the National School Board Association did not ask the Biden administration to label parents \u201cdomestic terrorists\u201d (spoiler: it did), and peddling\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/07\/19\/ap-spreads-disinformation-by-adopting-j6-committees-fabricated-timeline\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">misinformation<\/a>\u00a0regarding the timeline of the Jan. 6 U.S. Capitol riot.<\/p>\n<p>The list goes on and on. But one thing\u2019s for sure: the American public has had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2022\/07\/08\/news-republicans-democrats-trust-partisanship\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">enough<\/a>. <\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\" \/>\n<p>\n  Victoria Marshall is a staff writer at The Federalist.
