The pair had been discussing Andrew Garfield saying he didn\u2019t have sex for six months in preparation for his role as a priest in the 2016 Scorsese drama \u201cSilence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was like, \u2018Yeah, so?\u2019\u201d Barrymore continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s the headline: \u2018Drew can go six months, no big deal,&#8217;\u201d Mathews replied. The actress doubled down on her previous statement, saying, \u201cOh, years.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Barrymore has been married and divorced three times and recently talked about how she\u2019s navigating being a single mom. The \u201c50 First Dates\u201d star has two children with ex Will Kopelman and said she\u2019s hesitant about bringing home men she\u2019s not seeing seriously.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not there yet,\u201d she explained on her show earlier this year. \u201cI have two young girls, and I don\u2019t want to bring people home. I think that it would take me a very long time to meet someone and get to know them before I could ever even introduce them to my daughters.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Barrymore\u2019s dysfunctional upbringing as a child star with celebrity parents is well-documented. But she said she hopes what she went through ultimately makes her a better mom.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI didn\u2019t have parents, I was the parent to them. When people would talk to me about parenting I felt like an outcast. It took years for me to pluck up the courage to say, \u2018Can you speak to me as someone who is desperately trying to learn? Can you teach me?&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve got love and humor but we\u2019re all learning on the job,\u201d Barrymore continued. \u201cI don\u2019t want to be my kids\u2019 friend \u2013 I am their parent.
