Safe person, safe space.\u2019 The district says the message of the badge is a message of safety and inclusion for all students,\u201d veteran Emmy Award-winning reporter Lu Ann Stoia of ABC 6 Columbus reported.<\/p>\n<p>The superintendent of the Hilliard school district responded to ABC 6\u2019s inquiries with a statement saying, \u201cTeachers were reminded that the resources linked to the QR code were for adult learning only. Teachers were reminded that if asked about the \u2018I\u2019m Here\u2019 message on the badge, their response should be age appropriate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">.<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/HilliardSchools?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@HilliardSchools<\/a> allows teachers to wear a \u201csafe space\u201d badge with a QR code. When scanned, the code leads to inappropriate websites containing sexually explicit content. <\/p>\n<p>The superintendent continues to allow the badges to be worn in school. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/0cQc0yGVWq\">pic.twitter.com\/0cQc0yGVWq<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Libs of TikTok (@libsoftiktok) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/libsoftiktok\/status\/1572640729977200641?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 21, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Some of the parents in the district may sue the district because they argue the district is not being transparent about gender and sex-related conversations their children may be having with school staff, the Ohio Press Network <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theohiopressnetwork.com\/news\/ohio\/special-report-hilliard-parents-threaten-district-with-federal-lawsuit-after-school-says-it-may-hide\/article_b82ef404-3993-11ed-9fd3-f719c77cdf17.html\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In July, some of the parents confronted Stewart about Title IX changes; Stewart reputedly argued that if a teacher were to \u201cout a kid\u201d to their parents, the teacher would face a potential risk.<\/p>\n<p>Columbus attorney Joshua Brown, who represents over 30 parents in the district, sent letters to the school legal counsel, as well as a letter to district Superintendent Dave Stewart giving the district until September 15 to answer the parents\u2019 questions or a lawsuit would be filed.<\/p>\n<p>In the letter to Stewart, Brown asked if the school would \u201crequire school officials to notify parents when their child manifests symptoms of gender dysphoria (or symptoms of anything else) at school, and what specific exceptions may apply.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The district\u2019s law firm <a href=\"https:\/\/bloximages.newyork1.vip.townnews.com\/theohiopressnetwork.com\/content\/tncms\/assets\/v3\/editorial\/6\/52\/6528df06-3996-11ed-9e2f-cfed5e575769\/632ae4be48c6e.pdf.pdf\">replied<\/a> on September 14, the last day before the parents had said they would sue. They wrote, \u201cWithout going back and forth about who can assess \u2018symptoms,\u2019 and what that undefined term may mean to you or the parents you represent, it appears your question is really \u2013 if a student identifies at school as a gender different than their birth gender, will the school discuss this with the parents?
