Version: 4.0.47--><p>Tom Hardy literally shocked opponents at a martial arts fighting competition in England when he secretly entered the Brazilian jiu-jitsu event and walked away winning the whole thing.<\/p>\n<p>The 45-year-old actor didn\u2019t enter the 2022 Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Open Championship over the weekend using his stage name, but his real name, \u201cEdward,\u201d the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/uk-news\/2022\/sep\/20\/really-nice-guy-tom-hardy-surprises-competitors-with-entry-and-victory-in-martial-arts-contest\">Guardian<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n<p>No competitors knew he was the one they would be grappling with until they were face to face.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was shell-shocked,\u201d competitor Danny Appleby shared. \u201c[Hardy] said, \u2018Just forget it\u2019s me and do what you would normally do.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Appleby said Hardy is a \u201creally strong guy,\u201d which he found surprising given he\u2019s a celebrity, the outlet noted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve done about six tournaments and I\u2019ve been on the podium in every one,\u201d the athlete added. \u201cBut he\u2019s probably the toughest competitor I\u2019ve had \u2013 he certainly lived up to his Bane character, that\u2019s for sure.\u201d<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Tom Hardy won first place as a surprise competitor at the 2022 Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Open Championship.<\/p>\n<p>(Source: <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/3kcS3Buxhr\">https:\/\/t.co\/3kcS3Buxhr<\/a>) <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/DthquR5cgQ\">pic.twitter.com\/DthquR5cgQ<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 DiscussingFilm (@DiscussingFilm) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DiscussingFilm\/status\/1572592563114364934?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 21, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The \u201cVenom\u201d star reportedly wasn\u2019t adverse to those who did recognize him and took time out to take photos with fans.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEveryone recognized him but he was very humble and was happy to take time out for people to take photographs with him,\u201d the spokesperson at the tournament shared. \u201cIt was a real pleasure to have him compete at our event.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Oscar-nominated actor, an accomplished blue belt in the self-defense discipline, ended up taking home the gold at the fighting competition.<\/p>\n<p>Last month, \u201cThe Dark Knight Rises\u201d star participated in a jiu-jitsu competition for REORG, where he took home two medals, the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/09\/21\/tom-hardy-secretly-enters-and-wins-jiu-jitsu-competition-in-england\/\">New York Post<\/a> noted.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"es\" dir=\"ltr\">Tom Hardy en un campeonato de Jiu-Jitsu <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/3v0CLVlpbj\">pic.twitter.com\/3v0CLVlpbj<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Mr.Freaki \ud83c\udf44 (@MisterFreaki) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MisterFreaki\/status\/1571254946418286593?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 17, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In 2011, Hardy talked about what he did to physically prepare for his film that year, \u201cWarrior.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI did two hours boxing a day, two hours Muay Thai, two hours jiu-jitsu followed by two hours choreography and two hours of weightlifting seven days a week for three months,\u201d he said. \u201cSo come on!
