These surgeries make a lot of money,\u201d VUMC Clinic for Transgender Health\u2019s Dr. Shayne Sebold Taylor said in one video.<\/p>\n<p>Taylor said that \u201cgender-affirming\u201d double mastectomies could bring in $40,000, and a female-to-male phalloplasty could bring in upwards of $100,000.<\/p>\n<p>Another doctor appears to threaten health care workers who object to gender surgery for religious or other reasons, saying that decision has \u201cconsequences.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI just want you to take home that saying that you\u2019re not going to do something because of your religious beliefs is not without consequences and it should not be without consequences,\u201d said Vanderbilt health law expert and pediatrician Dr. Ellen Wright Clayton.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you don\u2019t want to do this kind of work, don\u2019t work at Vanderbilt,\u201d Clayton added.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Vanderbilt opened its trans clinic in 2018. During a lecture the same year, Dr. Shayne Taylor explained how she convinced Nashville to get into the gender transition game. She emphasized that it&#8217;s a &#8220;big money maker,&#8221; especially because the surgeries require a lot of &#8220;follow ups&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/zedM7HBCBe\">pic.twitter.com\/zedM7HBCBe<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Matt Walsh (@MattWalshBlog) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MattWalshBlog\/status\/1572313523232931840?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 20, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Tennessee\u2019s Republican Governor Bill Lee quickly called for an investigation into the clinic.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe \u2018pediatric transgender clinic\u2019 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center raises serious moral, ethical and legal concerns,\u201d Lee <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/gov-bill-lee-calls-for-investigation-of-vanderbilts-pediatric-transgender-clinic-following-matt-walsh-bombshell\">said<\/a> in a statement to The Daily Wire.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe should not allow permanent, life-altering decisions that hurt children or policies that suppress religious liberties, all for the purpose of financial gain. We have to protect Tennessee children, and this warrants a thorough investigation,\u201d Lee said.<\/p>\n<p>Other lawmakers added their voices to Lee\u2019s in calling for an investigation, including\u00a0Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are shocked by what we have seen in these videos. We would hope that VUMC would make better decisions. There is nothing healthy about mutilating the bodies of minor children. We need an investigation into VUMC putting profits ahead of children immediately,\u201d\u00a0Blackburn\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MarshaBlackburn\/status\/1572405730908737538\">tweeted<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTHIS. IS. HORRIBLE,\u201d tweeted former Wisconsin governor and 2016 GOP presidential candidate Scott Walker.<\/p>\n<p>At least two U.S. congressmen expressed their outrage and called for an investigation.<\/p>\n<p>Rep. John Rose (R-TN) tweeted\u00a0that Walsh\u2019s discovery about Vanderbilt is \u201chorrific.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cChildren are being permanently, physically altered for financial gain \u2013 it is inexcusable,\u201d Rose wrote, adding that he stands with the governor\u00a0in calling for an investigation.<\/p>\n<p>Rep.\u00a0Chuck Fleischmann (R-TN) also said he stands with Lee in \u201cdemanding a thorough investigation,\u201d calling the revelations about the gender clinic \u201cincredibly disheartening and completely unacceptable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTennessee children deserve better than what\u2019s happening at VUMC,\u201d Fleischmann\u00a0tweeted.<\/p>\n<p>Tennessee Republican Senate Majority Leader Jack Johnson added his voice to the chorus.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCompletely agree with @GovBillLee. I will do everything in my power to support this investigation,\u201d\u00a0Johnson tweeted.<\/p>\n<p>Several state congressmen joined in as well.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGiving hormone replacement treatments to minors is unconscionable but threatened doctors with \u2018consequences\u2019 who have religious objections is against everything this country stands for. The Legislature can and will act to correct this next session and I will lead that fight,\u201d tweeted state\u00a0Rep. Jeremy Faison,\u00a0the Tennessee House Republican Caucus Chairman.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis evil can not stand in TN. The Legislature must address such abuse of children and act to protect those who face consequences for their religious objections. This will be a priority for me in 2023,\u201d tweeted state Rep. Jason Zachary (R-TN).<\/p>\n<p>State Rep.
