Frazier\u2019s name, which was included in a campaign press release on a list of endorsements last week, has since been removed from the campaign website. Frazier, who reportedly personally supports Barnes in the U.S. Senate race, did not professionally endorse him and was unaware his name and title would be included in the candidate\u2019s list of endorsements. <\/p>\n<p>According to Sheriff\u2019s Department spokesman Lt. Michael Luell, \u201cFrazier\u2019s position is that it was a mistake by the Barnes campaign to list his name along with his employment as a deputy sheriff.\u201d Meanwhile, Barnes campaign spokeswoman Maddy McDaniel said that because Frazier \u201cis a non-elected active duty officer,\u201d they \u201cremoved his name out of an abundance of caution.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Frazier is not the only person to find himself listed under Barnes\u2019 law enforcement endorsements without having actually endorsed him. When La Crosse County Sheriff\u2019s Department Capt. John Siegel, the Democrat candidate for sheriff, saw his name listed, he \u201cimmediately\u201d called Barnes\u2019 campaign, saying he \u201cnever agreed to endorse Barnes for his U.S. Senate bid.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2018I had no idea on Friday my name had been up on a press release,&#8217;\u201d Seigel said. Barnes\u2019 campaign released a statement blaming the mistake on a \u201cclerical error\u201d and corrected it on the campaign website.<\/p>\n<p>Sen. Ron Johnson\u2019s campaign \u2014 the Republican incumbent and Barnes\u2019 opponent for the November election \u2014 addressed this \u201cendorsement scandal\u201d in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ronjohnsonforsenate.com\/2022\/09\/19\/mandela-barnes-fake-endorsements-091922-pr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">press release<\/a>. \u201cMandela Barnes can\u2019t even tell the truth about who is endorsing his campaign \u2014 voters shouldn\u2019t believe a word that comes out of his mouth,\u201d said Johnson campaign spokesman Alec Zimmerman. Barnes\u2019 \u201crepeated lies are an attempt to distract from his support for defunding the police and abolishing ICE. Now his endorsement scandal continues to grow.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Barnes has made many of his extreme views public, such as his <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/09\/01\/democrat-running-to-unseat-ron-johnson-labeled-trump-a-russian-spy-called-to-free-palestine-in-extreme-tweets\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">support<\/a> for the \u201cAbolish ICE\u201d movement, which is\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.afsc.org\/abolish-ice\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">known for<\/a>\u00a0accusing ICE of \u201cterrorizing our communities,\u201dand advocates for the dissolution of law enforcement at the border in the name of \u201chuman rights.\u201d Barnes was photographed holding up an \u201cAbolish ICE\u201d T-shirt.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, Barnes has taken many of his radical opinions to Twitter, such as perpetuating the Russian collusion hoax with the conspiracy theory that \u201cTrump is a Russian Spy,\u201d or spouting his anti-Israel sentiment to \u201cnormalize saying \u2018Free Palestine.&#8217;\u201d Barnes\u2019 fake endorsements are just his campaign\u2019s latest PR disaster.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\" \/>\n<p>\n  Sophia is an intern at The Federalist and a student at Le Moyne College.
