James Comer (R-Tenn.), the ranking member on the Oversight Panel, accused the Biden family of providing \u201caccess to the highest levels of government to enrich themselves\u201d and said the investigation is needed due to national security implications.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is time for President Biden to answer some questions about his participation in his family\u2019s business schemes with some of our most significant adversaries for years, including the Chinese Communist Party,\u201d he said, likely referring to emails sourced from the younger Biden\u2019s laptop that showed he had communications with a CCP-linked Chinese energy firm. In those emails, he also suggested giving\u00a0a 10 percent cut in a corporate organization to the \u201cbig guy,\u201d referring to Joe Biden.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf the Democrats vote against this resolution, then they are continuing in their coordinated effort to shield a potentially compromised President from necessary congressional oversight,\u201d Comer said Tuesday. \u201cWe must shed light on the Biden family\u2019s international business schemes to determine if there is a national security threat.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But longtime Rep.\u00a0Carolyn Maloney (D-N.Y.), the chairwoman of the Oversight Committee, said Republicans have \u201cmisplaced\u201d priorities by trying to investigate the Bidens.\u00a0\u201cThis is a nakedly partisan effort,\u201d she said, claiming GOP lawmakers are \u201cobsessed\u201d with Hunter Biden, reported CNN.<\/p>\n<p> Preview <\/p>\n<p>Should Republicans retake the House after the 2022 midterm elections, Tuesday\u2019s Oversight Committee vote suggests it is a sign of things to come.
