The FDA calls the challenge \u201csilly and unappetizing\u201d and \u201cvery unsafe.\u201d It can also produce toxic fumes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBoiling a medication can make it much more concentrated and change its properties in other ways. Even if you don\u2019t eat the chicken, inhaling the medication\u2019s vapors while cooking could cause high levels of the drugs to enter your body. It could also hurt your lungs,\u201d says the FDA.<\/p>\n<p>The FDA has previously issued warnings about ingesting cold medicine in social media challenges. A 2020 TikTok challenge encouraged people to take diphenhydramine, which can alleviate allergy and cold symptoms, to induce hallucinations. The agency warned that some people who were participating in the challenge landed in the emergency room or died.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf someone takes too much diphenhydramine and is hallucinating, can\u2019t be awakened, has a seizure, has trouble breathing, or has collapsed, immediately get medical attention or contact poison control,\u201d the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fda.gov\/drugs\/drug-safety-and-availability\/fda-warns-about-serious-problems-high-doses-allergy-medicine-diphenhydramine-benadryl\">FDA<\/a> said.<\/p>\n<p>Dangerous video challenges have been attributed to social media for years. One teen suffered second-degree burns when people started challenging each other to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/news\/morning-mix\/wp\/2014\/07\/29\/kentucky-teen-gets-burned-after-mimicking-fire-challenge-he-saw-online\/\">light themselves on fire<\/a> (\u201cThe Fire Challenge\u201d) with rubbing alcohol in order to try and put out the flames before getting seriously injured. Another boy was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.post-gazette.com\/neighborhoods-city\/2012\/06\/29\/Boy-12-badly-injured-in-salt-and-ice-challenge\/stories\/201206290188\">injured with cold burns<\/a> after rubbing himself with salt and applying ice cubes to himself (\u201cSalt And Ice Challenge\u201d) in an attempt to see how long he would last.\u00a0Another doctor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/detroit\/news\/condom-challenge-has-teens-risking-life\/\">warned<\/a> in 2013 against inhaling condoms through your nose (\u201cThe Condom Challenge\u201d) to pull them back out of your mouth. Last summer, two sets of parents <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/parents-sue-tiktok-for-damages-after-daughters-allegedly-die-doing-challenge-on-app\">filed a lawsuit against TikTok<\/a> for allegedly participating in a choking challenge (\u201cThe Blackout Challenge\u201d) in which people strangle themselves until they lose consciousness.<\/p>\n<p>The 2018 Tide Pod challenge \u2014 perhaps the most infamous of all social media challenges\u2014 erupted when teenagers started putting laundry detergent pods in their mouths. The challenge sparked concerns at Tide, which recruited social media influencers to convince people to stop doing it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat the heck is going on people,\u201d Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski said in a video. \u201cUse Tide pods for washing.
