Police Chief Thomas Oates could not confirm whether Menard was one of the two deceased individuals discovered in the home. One of the bodies was female while the other was male.<\/p>\n<p>Local outlets observed individuals in full hazmat suits entering the home to investigate on Monday. No criminal activity has yet been reported, but an investigation remains underway.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Happening now: Police in <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Woonsocket?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Woonsocket<\/a> have a home on Marian Lane blocked off with yellow tape \u2014 where two bodies were found \u201cseverely decomposed\u201d inside, according to the police chief. Grandchildren? Son? She was the longest-serving mayor in the community\u2019s history, as well as its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pressreader.com\/usa\/woonsocket-call\/20181104\/281745565395470\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">first female mayor<\/a>. Woonsocket\u2019s population includes approximately 40,000 residents.<\/p>\n<p>In 2017, Woonsocket Middle School was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pressreader.com\/usa\/woonsocket-call\/20170608\/281500751224623\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">named<\/a> in honor of Menard. The longtime mayor also previously served on the City Council and the Woonsocket School Committee.<\/p>\n<p>Menard\u2019s daughter reportedly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.telegram.com\/story\/news\/local\/north\/2009\/04\/16\/woonsocket-mayor-s-daughter-dies\/52028691007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">passed away<\/a> in 2009 in her Boston home at the age of 31.
