John Cornyn (R-Texas) organized the letter, which was signed by Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and a diverse group of others.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/09\/gop-hunter-biden-667.jpg\"><\/a><figcaption>One third of the US Senate signed a letter calling for Attorney General Merrick Garland to appoint a special counsel to investigate Hunter Biden\u2019s foreign business dealings.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThere is no way of\u00a0 knowing the entire scope of the investigation, but evidence seems to be mounting that Hunter Biden committed numerous federal crimes, including, but not limited to, tax fraud, money laundering, and foreign-lobbying violations,\u201d the letter says.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIndeed, Senators [Chuck] Grassley and [Ron] Johnson have conducted an investigation for several years that has resulted in the public discourse of facts that support those criminal concerns, including the disclosure of financial records showing the Biden family\u2019s close financial connections to the communist Chinese government and questionable foreign nationals,\u201d the letter continues.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is clear that Hunter Biden thrived off a \u2018pay to play\u2019 culture of access to his father, then Vice President Joe Biden in exchange for financial compensation.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/09\/gop-hunter-biden-666.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/gop-hunter-biden-666.jpg\" alt=\"The letter cited the \" politicization of the DOJ \/><\/a><figcaption>The letter cited the \u201cpoliticization of the DOJ\u201d under Garland as a reason to appoint an independent special counsel.<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">AP Photo\/Susan Walsh<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The letter was sent just one day after the broadcast by CBS of an interview with President Biden in which he claimed that his son\u2019s foreign dealings \u2014 including in China, Russia and Ukraine \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/09\/19\/biden-says-hes-not-at-all-concerned-about-hunter-conflicts\/\">didn\u2019t cause conflicts of interest<\/a> for him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s not a single thing that I\u2019ve observed at all that would affect me or the United States relative to my son Hunter,\u201d the president said, despite the fact that he\u2019s met with many of his son\u2019s business associates. <\/p>\n<p>Biden hasn\u2019t sanctioned a Russian billionaire with whom his son reportedly did business, despite sanctioning much of Russia\u2019s elite this year over the Feb. 24 invasion of Ukraine. But Bobulinski heard nothing from Thibault after alleging that he spoke with Joe Biden about the deal.<\/p>\n<p>Bobulinski says Joe Biden was known among Hunter Biden\u2019s business partners as the<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/07\/27\/hunter-bidens-biz-partner-called-joe-biden-the-big-guy-in-panic-over-laptop\/\">\u00a0\u201cbig guy\u201d<\/a>\u00a0\u2014 who a document from Hunter Biden\u2019s laptop said was \u2018due a 10% cut in a new corporate entity with CEFC. Another Hunter Biden business associate,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/07\/27\/hunter-bidens-biz-partner-called-joe-biden-the-big-guy-in-panic-over-laptop\/\">James\u00a0Gilliar<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/07\/27\/hunter-bidens-biz-partner-called-joe-biden-the-big-guy-in-panic-over-laptop\/\">,<\/a>\u00a0also identified Joe Biden as the \u201cbig guy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The FBI also allegedly<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/08\/24\/fbi-warned-agents-off-hunter-biden-laptop-due-to-election-whistleblowers\/\"> warned agents off investigating the contents<\/a> of the laptop, which were made public by The Post in October 2020.<\/p>\n<p>In a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/07\/26\/fbi-doj-accused-of-downplaying-hunter-biden-dirt\/\">July letter outlining whistleblower complaints<\/a>, Sen. [and] subsequently attempted to improperly mark the matter in FBI systems so that it could not be opened in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Under questioning from Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.) last month, FBI Director Chris Wray said alleged bias in the Hunter Biden case was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/08\/04\/alleged-bias-in-hunter-biden-probe-deeply-troubling-fbi-director-wray\/\">\u201cdeeply troubling.\u201d<\/a>\u00a0But Wray cut short questions, saying he had to catch a flight.
