The description of the course has been adjusted accordingly.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The course costs $1,890 per person. A regular one-credit course at the university costs $1,575 in addition to a mandatory $315 \u201ccourse fee\u201d for equipment.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Following the resurgence of the Black Lives Matter movement, racially segregated events on college campuses have increased exponentially. Many of the events claim to be \u201cspace spaces\u201d for people of color to avoid hearing white voices that may offend them.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>A 2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nas.org\/storage\/app\/media\/Reports\/NeoSeg%20at%20Yale\/NeoSegregation_at_Yale.pdf\">report<\/a> from the National Association of Scholars uncovered a slew of cases where universities segregated residence halls, commencement ceremonies, cultural centers, alumni groups, and classes based on race.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>At <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yaf.org\/news\/elon-university-hosts-urgent-whites-only-caucus-to-process-complicity-in-racism\/\">Elon University<\/a>, students were asked to join a \u201cwhite caucus\u201d meeting for white students to \u201cunpack race and systemic oppression.\u201d At the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yaf.org\/news\/u-florida-department-bans-white-students-from-virtual-town-hall\/\">University of Florida<\/a>, Ph.D. students in the anthropology department hosted a segregated virtual town hall that barred white people from attending. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yaf.org\/news\/university-of-kentucky-forces-ras-into-segregated-trainings-white-accountability-space\/\">University of Kentucky<\/a> segregated its resident assistants into training groups based on race as well.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Opponents of segregation believe that schools that host racially segregated events may be violating Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, which prohibits racial discrimination at taxpayer-funded institutions.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cNo person in the United States shall, on the ground of race, color, or national origin, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance,\u201d Title VI of the Civil Rights Act reads.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) and former Sen. Kelly Loeffler (R-GA) <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/campus\/cotton-asks-justice-department-to-investigate-racial-segregation-on-college-campuses\/\">penned a letter<\/a> to the Department of Justice calling for an investigation into racially segregated events taking place on college campuses.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The Biden Department of Justice has opted to scrap investigations into racial segregation on college campuses.
