(Saul Loeb\/AFP via Getty Images) <\/p>\n<p>It also references whistleblower <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/fbi-nixed-hunter-biden-probe-pre-2020-election-using-playbook-of-dem-lawmakers-sen-grassley-alleges_4625806.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">information<\/a> received by Grassley\u2019s office detailing a \u201cwidespread effort within the FBI to downplay or discredit negative information about\u201d Hunter Biden, including allegations that the FBI \u201cshut down investigative activity and avenues of information relating to potentially criminal information on Hunter Biden before the 2020 presidential election.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The senators accused Garland of taking the \u201cinexplicable step of chilling lawful whistleblower activity\u201d by issuing an Aug. 30 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/ag-merrick-garland-issues-memo-warning-doj-about-talking-to-congress_4701345.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">memo<\/a> reminding DOJ employees of a policy prohibiting communications with Congressional members without<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>More than 30 Republican senators have called on Attorney General Merrick Garland to give the federal prosecutor investigating Hunter Biden special counsel protections, arguing that such a move would help assure the American people that the probe is free from political influence amid widespread allegations of bias at the Department of Justice (DOJ).
