Together, they\u2019re country music royalty, but their fame is built on a foundational lie.<\/p>\n<p>The two have another reason to be a poor match, at least on paper. Sarandon is a rock-ribbed progressive, while Adkins doesn\u2019t hide his conservative views. He even performed the National Anthem at the 2020 Republican National Convention.<\/p>\n<p>Oil and water on, and off, the \u201cMonarch\u201d set? Hardly.<\/p>\n<p>Adkins opened up to Bill Maher on the comedian\u2019s HBO perch about their professional pairing. Turns out they get along just fine, and there\u2019s a secret to their camaraderie.<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t talk politics.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere were no issues. We went to work, and we did our work, and we stayed away from everything else.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And it sounds like he made sure that policy stuck.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA couple of times maybe a current event or something would happen that morning, and she\u2019d be watching the news, and she\u2019d say something to me about it. But it was very brief, and we just didn\u2019t go there. We just stayed away from it. What\u2019s the point?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s heartening to hear, both from a cultural point of view and knowing how conservatives are treated in Hollywood. Many face <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodintoto.com\/gutfeld-carolla-share-shocking-late-night-blacklisting-tales\/\">Blacklist-like punishments<\/a> for not singing from the progressive hymnal.<\/p>\n<p>Sarandon, to her credit, pushed all that aside. Others aren\u2019t so eager to do the same. \u201cWill &#038; Grace\u201d stars Debra Messing and Eric McCormack suggested <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodintoto.com\/whoopi-goldberg-joy-behar-blacklist\/\">they\u2019d rather not work alongside President Donald Trump supporters<\/a> before they publicly backpedaled from that claim.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s why the Adkins\/Sarandon pairing offers hope.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s similar to how \u201cRay Donovan\u201d stars Liev Schreiber and Jon Voight handled their mismatched political views.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodintoto.com\/hollywood-blacklist-music-industry\/\"><strong>RELATED: DOES HOLLYWOOD\u2019S CONSERVATIVE BLACKLIST EXTEND TO MUSIC BIZ?<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Schreiber is liberal while the Oscar-winning Voight is openly conservative.\u00a0They worked beautifully together for seven-plus seasons on the Showtime series without a kerfuffle.<\/p>\n<p>How?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/entertainment\/ray-donovan-liev-schreiber-jon-voight-politics\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">They followed Adkins\u2019 approach to on-set conversations<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJon and I made an agreement years ago to just never talk about politics \u2026 It\u2019s just something that we don\u2019t want in the workspace. We don\u2019t want that. Our jobs are difficult enough as they are without all the other nonsense coming into it.
