Gavin Newsom on Friday announced a sweeping package of what he called the country\u2019s \u201cmost aggressive\u201d climate measures to \u201caccelerate the state\u2019s transition\u201d to non-conventional energy sources.<\/p>\n<p>The package includes 40 bills that appear to provide new green rules on laws related to things ranging from large-scale industry to the family home and private and public transportation.<\/p>\n<p>The Democratic governor\u2019s office said in a statement the package of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/t-climate-change\">climate change<\/a>-focused measures aims to cut pollution and target \u201cbig polluters.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It comes as America\u2019s most populous state has struggled to provide stable electricity for residents amid a heat wave, which saw the state asking residents to use less power and suggest the best times to use air conditioners or charge electric cars.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis month has been a wake-up call for all of us that later is too late to act on climate change. California isn\u2019t waiting any more,\u201d Newsom said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.ca.gov\/2022\/09\/16\/governor-newsom-signs-sweeping-climate-measures-ushering-in-new-era-of-world-leading-climate-action\/\">statement<\/a>. \u201cTogether with the Legislature, California is taking the most aggressive action on climate our nation has ever seen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re cleaning the air we breathe, holding the big polluters accountable, and ushering in a new era for clean energy,\u201d he continued. \u201cThat\u2019s climate action done the California Way\u2014and we\u2019re not only doubling down, we\u2019re just getting started.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In July, Newsom called for \u201cbold actions\u201d to combat climate change. He declared his climate-focused vision for California involves a push to achieve 90 percent \u201cclean energy\u201d by 2035, \u201ccarbon neutrality\u201d by 2045, \u201csetback measures\u201d to target oil drilling, carbon capture programs, and to \u201cadvance nature-based solutions\u201d to remove carbon from \u201cnatural and working lands.\u201d<\/p>\n<p> 40 Green Bills <\/p>\n<p>Newsom\u2019s office said his sweeping package of measures will create four million new jobs over the next 20 years, cut air pollution by 60 percent, and reduce state oil consumption by 91 percent.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>California Gov.
