This study is important because it&#8217;s the first to show this specific association. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/axYncR0m4l\">https:\/\/t.co\/axYncR0m4l<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Dr. Rachel Levine (@SecretaryLevine) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SecretaryLevine\/status\/1220745104605843457?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 24, 2020<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Levine has spoken publicly about support for the medical transition of minors and the use of puberty blockers for children who \u201cjust start puberty\u201d as a way to make sure they don\u2019t \u201cgo through the wrong puberty.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In 2017, Levine served as Physician General for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and Professor of Pediatrics and Psychiatry at the Penn State College of Medicine and gave a speech at Franklin &#038; Marshall College that touched on the transition of youths.<\/p>\n<p>The speech was first highlighted by The National Pulse on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Levine spoke about past patients, including a 16-year-old boy who \u201calways felt female.\u201d The minor was directed to counseling, given hormones, and transitioned. Likewise, another patient of Levine\u2019s, a 17-year-old girl who \u201calways felt male,\u201d went through the same medical process and transitioned to the male gender.<\/p>\n<p>Pre-pubescent children do not receive medical treatment, Levine said.
