It asked for all text messages from Jan. 6 and relating to the events that unfolded that day, as well as after-action reports.<\/p>\n<p>The Secret Service <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/secret-service-deleted-jan-6-text-messages-inspector-general_4600592.html\">has said<\/a> that text messages sent on Jan. 5 and Jan. 6 were erased as part of a device replacement program but have denied allegations of malfeasance.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s hard for people to understand, but we do not communicate via text message,\u201d a spokesman said earlier this year. \u201cIt is in policy that you do not conduct business via text message.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The agency said that it hasn\u2019t recovered any \u201cadditional text messages,\u201d but Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.) told reporters on Sept. 14 that the files include texts from Jan. 5 and Jan. 6, after the service turned over just one message previously.<\/p>\n<p>Thompson said he didn\u2019t know where the messages were sourced, The Hill <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/house\/3643390-jan-6-panel-members-report-progress-on-trump-secret-service-probe\/\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-Calif.), a member of the committee, described the materials as a \u201clarge amount of documentary evidence,\u201d some of which is \u201cvery pertinent.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s texts, there\u2019s emails, there\u2019s radio traffic, there\u2019s all kinds of information. [Microsoft] Teams meetings,\u201d she said on MSNBC. \u201cWe\u2019re going through everything that\u2019s been provided.
