As <a href=\"http:\/\/dailywire.com\/topic\/inflation\">inflationary<\/a> pressures and other economic bottlenecks propel the United States into a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/white-house-does-preemptive-damage-control-as-economy-heads-toward-recession\">technical recession<\/a>, other technology companies have likewise <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/recession-fears-lead-big-tech-companies-to-pause-hiring-cut-jobs\">slowed hiring<\/a> or decreased payrolls.<\/p>\n<p>Lawson, however, informed his staff that Twilio is devoted to operating as an \u201canti-racist\u201d company and that the layoffs were executed through an \u201cAnti-Racist\/Anti-Oppression lens,\u201d because \u201clayoffs like this can have a more pronounced impact on marginalized communities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis was tremendously difficult. For those impacted today, we applied a rigorous selection process to examine which roles were most tightly aligned to our four priorities,\u201d Lawson wrote.<\/p>\n<p>Other entities in the United States have adopted similar policies in layoff decisions. Last month, the Minneapolis Federation of Teachers <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/minneapolis-public-schools-defend-anti-white-firing-practices-that-put-critical-race-theory-into-practice\">agreed to a contract<\/a> stipulating that non-white staff are considered a \u201cpopulation underrepresented among licensed teachers,\u201d which allows for them to be fired after white colleagues \u2014 a decision the union later defended as a remedy for \u201cthe continuing effects of past discrimination.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>An <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/diversity-training-at-vanguard-tells-white-men-to-accept-uncomfortable-criticism-floats-holding-them-accountable\">exclusive report<\/a> from The Daily Wire revealed a two-hour diversity training at asset management company Vanguard that pushed white male managers to accept \u201cuncomfortable\u201d criticism about their implicit biases. Leaked footage showed a diversity trainer suggesting that Vanguard should provide expectations for how managers \u201cwill and should be held accountable\u201d for diversity goals \u2014 with one possible mechanism for such accountability occurring through the \u201cperformance management process \u2026 just like we do for business results.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Prioritizing diversity among staff \u2014 even at the expense of optimizing merit \u2014 is an objective frequently pursued at companies that have subscribed to the environmental, social, and governance (ESG) movement, by which executives tend to mingle left-wing politics with operations within their mandates.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this year, however, an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/poll-by-two-to-one-margin-investors-reject-woke-companies-pushing-political-causes\">exclusive poll<\/a> from The Daily Wire showed that American investors would prefer that companies commit solely to the pursuit of profits. Although 29% of respondents agreed it is a \u201cgood thing\u201d for companies to leverage their financial power for political or social means supported by executives, 58% said it is a \u201cbad thing.\u201d The poll also found that most investors recognize ESG as promoting \u201cmore liberal positions\u201d than conservative ones. While 50% believe the former and 16% believe the latter, only 21% believe that ESG investing is politically neutral.<\/p>\n<p>In the public sector, President Joe Biden is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/biden-admin-unleashes-total-transformation-of-government-with-equity-action-plans\">pursuing<\/a> a \u201ctotal transformation of government\u201d centered upon diversity, equity, and inclusion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI believe this nation and this government need to change their whole approach to the issue of racial equity,\u201d the commander-in-chief said during a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/speeches-remarks\/2021\/01\/26\/remarks-by-president-biden-at-signing-of-an-executive-order-on-racial-equity\/\">speech<\/a> days after his inauguration. \u201cWe need to open the promise of America to every American.
