Such a CR, Republicans warn, would allow Democrats to continue to fund President Joe Biden\u2019s \u201cfailed agenda\u201d over the wishes of a potential GOP House majority.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAny spending that expires before Jan[.] 3 would allow Dems to tie Republicans\u2019 hands next congress,\u201d explained Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepChipRoy\/status\/1569712666649796614\">in a statement on Twitter.<\/a>\u00a0\u201cVoters will have fired Speaker Pelosi, but she could still decide all government funding for FY2023.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In a memo (<a href=\"https:\/\/banks.house.gov\/uploadedfiles\/cr_memo_real_final.pdf\">pdf<\/a>) to members of the Republican Study Committee, chairman Jim Banks (R-Ind.) wrote: \u201cThe sun is setting on Nancy Pelosi\u2019s speakership.\u201d<\/p>\n<p> Pelosi\u2019s \u2018Last Hurrah\u2019 <\/p>\n<p>Still, Banks said, Pelosi was hoping for a \u201clast hurrah\u201d by hijacking the CR with provisions that would not be supported by Republicans.<\/p>\n<p>Among these provisions, according to Banks, are: \u201cA pathway to citizenship for the ~76,000 Afghan evacuees without LPR status,\u201d despite the fact that the Department of Homeland Security inspector general found that \u201cthe Biden admin failed to vet Afghan evacuees, and a\u00a0whistleblower reported that the Biden admin flew 324 suspected terrorists into the US.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Further, Banks said, Pelosi\u2019s CR includes \u201c$22.4 billion in<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>House Republicans are warning that Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) could use a must-pass stopgap spending measure to \u201ctie Republicans\u2019 hands\u201d during fiscal year 2023, even if the party takes the majority.
