Val Demings, a Democrat candidate for the U.S. Senate race in Florida, embraces and promotes the <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/08\/18\/these-vulnerable-dems-wont-say-if-they-support-unpopular-unfettered-abortion-but-theyve-backed-it-before\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">left\u2019s unpopular<\/a> belief that abortion should be legal and easy to get during all nine months of pregnancy.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s why when Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham announced plans on Monday night to introduce a 15-week ban on abortions in the U.S., Demings publicly yowled about the consequences of saving an unborn child from the pain of being dismantled in the womb early in the first trimester would bring on the nation. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe right to abortion is the freedom to control your own life,\u201d she <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepValDemings\/status\/1569396581165666306?s=20&amp;t=Umv7BGNHH3rjqOFUI1GURQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">tweeted<\/a>. Later in the tweet, she claimed that Graham\u2019s bill is \u201cgovernment overreach at its worst.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"381\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/Screen-Shot-2022-09-13-at-10.39.59-AM-1024x381-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-279190\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/Screen-Shot-2022-09-13-at-10.39.59-AM-1024x381-1.png 1024w, https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/Screen-Shot-2022-09-13-at-10.39.59-AM-300x112.png 300w, https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/Screen-Shot-2022-09-13-at-10.39.59-AM-768x286-1.png 768w, https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/Screen-Shot-2022-09-13-at-10.39.59-AM.png 1192w\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>The abortion views Democrats such as Demings claim to hold <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/americans-support-abortion-restrictions-poll\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">far exceed<\/a> what the majority of American voters support when it comes to ending unborn life. Yet, Demings continues to champion them while blaming Republicans like her pro-life opponent Sen. Marco Rubio for being \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepValDemings\/status\/1503832224294215685?s=20&amp;t=qa1ireVoa5Xb1vq3KIeXyg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">extremists<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Since the beginning of her campaign for Senate, Demings has poured <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/meet-the-press\/meetthepressblog\/demings-launches-first-tv-ad-abortion-florida-senate-race-rcna46576\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">tens of millions of dollars<\/a> into advertisements, some of which have amplified her own pro-abortion extremism on Florida airwaves. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s outrageous to mandate when a woman can and can\u2019t do with their body,\u201d\u00a0Demings <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=rBHoxrfONfo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">says in one ad<\/a>.\u201cMarco Rubio wants to criminalize abortions with no exceptions for victims of rape or incest. Well, I know something about fighting crime, Sen. Rubio. Rape is a crime. Incest is a crime. Abortion is not.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Demings may not be happy with Rubio\u2019s position on unborn life, but it\u2019s not hard to see that Rubio, who said Demings supports \u201cabortion on demand, taxpayer-funded at any point in a pregnancy,\u201d is right about how her views fail to reflect the wishes of voters in Florida and across the nation. <\/p>\n<p>Demings tried to downplay her radical position by telling the Miami Herald that she believes in legalized abortion \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.miamiherald.com\/news\/politics-government\/article265269191.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">up to the time of viability of the fetus<\/a>,\u201d but her past statements reflect an even harsher stance that most voters don\u2019t like.<\/p>\n<p>In that same Miami Herald interview, Demings admitted that she believes abortionists should be able to claim viability is far past even the 24-week mark, which is often said to be when a baby could survive outside of the womb. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes, we\u2019ve heard 24 weeks, but a medical professional should be able to help a family who\u2019s having to make that tough decision, answer that question,\u201d Demings said.  <\/p>\n<p>She <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepValDemings\/status\/1520474067572207616?s=20&amp;t=E2S-k9uqJ7rMRbwNUJ-bwA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">clearly takes issue<\/a> with her state\u2019s 15-week abortion ban, despite a majority of voters\u2019 support for it, and regularly perpetuates lies about <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepValDemings\/status\/1454459515005546509?s=20&amp;t=E2S-k9uqJ7rMRbwNUJ-bwA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201csafe\u201d abortions<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/09\/01\/ob-gyns-shatter-nine-of-the-most-common-abortion-myths-the-left-peddles-to-spook-women\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">which don\u2019t exist<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>One look at Demings\u2019s legislative record also shows an intense commitment to legalizing abortion at any point of pregnancy. <\/p>\n<p>Demings didn\u2019t just vote for the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepValDemings\/status\/1548000084062642176?s=20&amp;t=E2S-k9uqJ7rMRbwNUJ-bwA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">attempt to codify unlimited abortion<\/a>, she cosponsored it. As a matter of fact, she even urged Democrats in the Senate to <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepValDemings\/status\/1550577000435404803?s=20&amp;t=E2S-k9uqJ7rMRbwNUJ-bwA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ignore the restraints of the filibuster<\/a> to pass the ill-named Women\u2019s Health Protection Act, which would have guaranteed unlimited, on-demand abortion in every state.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><\/figure>\n<p>Demings has repeatedly refused to respond to The Federalist\u2019s comment requests.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\" \/>\n<p>\n  Jordan Boyd is a staff writer at The Federalist and co-producer of The Federalist Radio Hour.
