Fetterman has said he will debate Oz just one time, in mid- to late-October.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The lingering, unanswered questions about his health, underscored by his hesitation to debate, are unsettling,&#8221; the editorial board said.<\/p>\n<p>The scathing critique from a reliably liberal newspaper highlights the rising concern that Democrats have over Fetterman\u2019s recovery. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/us\/us-senate-hopeful-fetterman-aims-quell-health-fears-pennsylvania-rally-2022-09-11\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">According to Reuters<\/a>, several Pennsylvania Democratic officials privately expressed concern about Fetterman\u2019s fitness for office. Last week, Fetterman\u2019s hometown newspaper, the <em>Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/elections\/fettermans-hometown-newspaper-questions-his-ability-to-serve-after-skipping-debate\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">questioned<\/a> his &#8220;ability to serve.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The <em>Post<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2022\/06\/04\/inside-john-fettermans-changing-health-scare-story\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a> in June that Fetterman\u2019s condition was much more serious than he initially let on. Fetterman\u2019s campaign waited nearly three weeks after his May 13 stroke to disclose that Fetterman was diagnosed with a heart condition in 2017. Fetterman\u2019s recovery has also been slower than expected. Fetterman\u2019s wife, who is often at his side during campaign events and interviews, said after the stroke that he would &#8220;be back on his feet in no time.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>But as the <em>Post<\/em> editorial board noted, Fetterman &#8220;appears confused&#8221; at campaign events and often &#8220;stammers&#8221; during his brief stump speeches. Fetterman has appeared at only a few public events since his stroke in May.
