He\u2019s held no news conferences. Mr. Fetterman acknowledges his difficulties with auditory processing, which make it hard for him to respond quickly to what he\u2019s hearing. He receives speech therapy \u2014 and we wish him a speedy, full recovery \u2014 but the lingering, unanswered questions about his health, underscored by his hesitation to debate, are unsettling.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Fetterman campaign squandered credibility by concealing from the public for two days after his stroke that he had been hospitalized,\u201d they op-ed continued. \u201cIt waited weeks longer to reveal a more complete picture of his medical history, including that he had been diagnosed in 2017 with cardiomyopathy. Mr. Fetterman had a pacemaker with a defibrillator implanted after the stroke. The campaign\u2019s response to questions about Mr. Fetterman\u2019s health is to point to a doctor\u2019s note, released more than 14 weeks ago, which said \u2018he should be able to campaign and serve in the U.S. Senate without a problem\u2019 if he takes his medications and exercises.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Editorial Board said that Fetterman pointing to a 4-month-old doctor\u2019s note was \u201cnot good enough\u201d and that he \u201cshould release his medical records for independent review.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Oz <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/fetterman-promises-he-will-debate-oz-but-does-not-specify-when-and-where\">responded<\/a> to Fetterman\u2019s ambiguous remarks about debating one-time in late October by calling out his lack of specificity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe keep hearing that the Fetterman campaign is in debate talks with networks,\u201d Oz tweeted. \u201cWhat networks? He won\u2019t say. What terms? He won\u2019t say. John Fetterman sure has a lot of people speaking for him, but does very little speaking himself.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette\u2019s Editorial Board also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/top-pennsylvania-newspaper-blasts-fetterman-his-excuses-to-get-out-of-debate-do-not-cut-it\">demanded<\/a> that Fetterman debate Oz, writing that Oz \u201chas raised legitimate concerns\u201d about Fetterman\u2019s health.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf Mr. Fetterman\u2019s communication skills have not yet recovered sufficiently to effectively debate his opponent, many voters will have concerns about his ability to represent them effectively in Washington,\u201d the local paper wrote. \u201cWhile he has gamely undertaken more campaign events and media interviews in recent weeks, Mr. Fetterman still speaks haltingly and relies on closed captioning to fully understand his conversation partners.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Washington Post Editorial Board came out swinging against U.S. Senate candidate John Fetterman (D) in a new op-ed published on Monday, saying that his hesitancy to debate his Republican opponent, Dr. Mehmet Oz, was unacceptable and that he needs to release his medical records following his stroke.
