{"id":1639583,"date":"2022-09-12T17:47:44","date_gmt":"2022-09-12T21:47:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/?p=1639583"},"modified":"2022-09-12T17:49:06","modified_gmt":"2022-09-12T21:49:06","slug":"oig-department-of-justice-refused-to-charge-at-least-two-of-its-corrupt-lawbreaking-attorneys","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/oig-department-of-justice-refused-to-charge-at-least-two-of-its-corrupt-lawbreaking-attorneys\/","title":{"rendered":"OIG: Department Of Justice Refused To Charge At Least Two Of Its Corrupt, Lawbreaking Attorneys"},"content":{"rendered":"<aside class=\"mashsb-container mashsb-main mashsb-stretched\"><div class=\"mashsb-box\"><div class=\"mashsb-count mash-medium\" style=\"&quot;\"><div class=\"counts mashsbcount\">30<\/div><span class=\"mashsb-sharetext\">SHARES<\/span><\/div><div class=\"mashsb-buttons\"><a class=\"mashicon-facebook mash-medium mash-nomargin mashsb-noshadow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/sharer.php?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.conservativenewsdaily.net%2Fbreaking-news%2Foig-department-of-justice-refused-to-charge-at-least-two-of-its-corrupt-lawbreaking-attorneys%2F\" target=\"_top\" rel=\"nofollow\"><span class=\"icon\"><\/span><span class=\"text\">Facebook<\/span><\/a><a class=\"mashicon-twitter mash-medium mash-nomargin mashsb-noshadow\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/intent\/tweet?text=&amp;url=https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/?p=1639583&amp;via=ConservNewsDly\" target=\"_top\" rel=\"nofollow\"><span class=\"icon\"><\/span><span class=\"text\">Twitter<\/span><\/a><a class=\"mashicon-subscribe mash-medium mash-nomargin mashsb-noshadow\" href=\"#\" target=\"_top\" rel=\"nofollow\"><span class=\"icon\"><\/span><span class=\"text\">Subscribe<\/span><\/a><div class=\"onoffswitch2 mash-medium mashsb-noshadow\" style=\"display:none\"><\/div><\/div>\n            <\/div>\n                <div style=\"clear:both\"><\/div><\/aside>\n            <!-- Share buttons by mashshare.net - Version: 4.0.47--><p>Just one month after Attorney General Merrick Garland <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/08\/11\/attorney-general-merrick-garland-admits-he-personally-approved-fbi-raid-on-trumps-home\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">berated<\/a> Americans for daring to question the Department of Justice and the FBI\u2019s credibility, the Office of the Inspector General released investigative summaries detailing how at least three assistant U.S. attorneys engaged in inappropriate, illegal, and unruly behavior that went unchecked by Garland\u2019s agency. <\/p>\n<p>Despite clear evidence that these federal lawyers broke DOJ policy, and in some cases, even state and federal laws, the DOJ deliberately refused to prosecute at least two of them.<\/p>\n<p>The first OIG report <a href=\"https:\/\/oig.justice.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/reports\/22-105.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">confirms<\/a> that an assistant U.S. attorney maintained \u201cInappropriate Physical Contact with a Foreign Service National\u201d by \u201cforcibly\u201d grabbing the FSN, who was employed by the U.S. State Department, by the chin \u201cin an aggressive gesture.\u201d<\/p>\n<p> The OIG also found that this specific attorney engaged in \u201cOther Unprofessional Conduct while on a Department of Justice Detail Assignment in a Foreign Country\u201d including \u201cbecoming inebriated in the presence of foreign government officials and making offensive and demeaning remarks to foreign government officials.\u201d That didn\u2019t matter to the DOJ, however, which declined to prosecute the AUSA for offending behavior<\/p>\n<p>In another report, the DOJ oversight office <a href=\"https:\/\/oig.justice.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/reports\/22-103.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">found<\/a> that an AUSA exposed \u201cgenitals while in a public place,\u201d \u201csexually assaulted a civilian while on a date,\u201d and then \u201clacked candor\u201d in interviews about the incident when asked by the OIG. Despite these facts, the DOJ also rejected prosecuting this unnamed individual. <\/p>\n<p>A third investigative summary <a href=\"https:\/\/oig.justice.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/reports\/22-104.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">documented<\/a> how an AUSA who was stopped in a traffic stop, misused the AUSA title in an attempt to get away despite driving \u201ca personal vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.\u201d That included engaging \u201cin conduct that was prejudicial to the government, including ignoring instructions, cursing at officers, and kicking the<br \/>door of the patrol vehicle, in violation of federal ethics regulations and 5 C.F.R. \u00a7 735.203.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The summary did not state whether the DOJ chose to prosecute but noted that its findings were passed along to the Executive Office for United States Attorneys and the DOJ\u2019s Office of Professional Responsibility \u201cfor appropriate action.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Shortly after Garland personally greenlit the FBI\u2019s raid on former President Donald Trump\u2019s home last month, he gave a speech affirming his department\u2019s commitment to \u201capplying the law evenly without fear or favor.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFaithful adherence to the rule of law is the bedrock principle of the Justice Department and of our democracy\u2026Under my watch, that is precisely what the Justice Department is doing,\u201d Garland claimed.<\/p>\n<p>The Biden administration\u2019s DOJ, under the watchful eye of Garland, however, is better known by <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/08\/09\/4-in-5-americans-see-two-tiered-justice-system-poll\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">4 in 5 voters<\/a> for upholding a two-tiered\u00a0justice system that lets <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/08\/17\/democrats-say-no-one-is-above-the-law-but-this-list-of-their-corrupt-allies-proves-otherwise\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">allies of the regime off the hook<\/a>. That\u2019s likely why <a href=\"https:\/\/conventionofstates.com\/voters-say-federal-bureaucracy-too-big-focused-on-pushing-political-agenda-rather-than-serving-americans\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">more than half<\/a>\u00a0of U.S. voters think bureaucratic agencies such as the DOJ and FBI are too big and too focused on advancing a political agenda.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\" \/>\n<p>\n  Jordan Boyd is a staff writer at The Federalist and co-producer of The Federalist Radio Hour.
