But the <em>Aquaman <\/em>star hasn\u2019t always felt this way, according to a <em>Washington Free Beacon<\/em> analysis.<\/p>\n<p>In a <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/movies\/jason-momoa-shaves-head-to-highlight-issue-of-single-use-plastic\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">video<\/a> posted to Instagram Monday, Momoa noted he was shaving his head because &#8220;plastic bottles, plastic forks, all that shit, goes into our land, goes into our ocean,&#8221; adding &#8220;plastic bottles are ridiculous.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>But a <em>Washington Free Beacon <\/em>review found that Momoa has a history of using the bottles he now despises. The <em>Game of Thrones <\/em>star then <a href=\"https:\/\/www.today.com\/popculture\/jason-momoa-shaves-signature-beard-first-time-7-years-see-t152404\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">shaved<\/a> his beard for the first time in seven years, in a video encouraging people to &#8220;switch to INFINITELY RECYCLABLE aluminum. Water in cans, not plastic.&#8221; That same month, Momoa <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mananalu.com\/post\/why-jason-momoa-founded-drinking-water-company-mananalu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">launched<\/a> Mananalu, a company that sells water in aluminum cans. As of this writing, a 12-pack of Mananalu\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Mananalu-Purified-Resealable-Infinitely-Recyclable\/dp\/B09M99Y7DC\/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=1M9GCTTLM5MD6&amp;keywords=mananalu&amp;qid=1662728638&amp;sprefix=mananalu%2Caps%2C605&amp;sr=8-1-spons&amp;psc=1&amp;smid=AA6WPROQFAJAW\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">goes for $27.99<\/a> on Amazon Prime.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Now that I\u2019ve become Aquaman,&#8221; Momoa said when Mananalu launched, &#8220;there are a lot of things I want to do to try to save the Earth.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>But canning water may not do much to help the environment. A July 2022 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mckinsey.com\/~\/media\/mckinsey\/industries\/chemicals\/our%20insights\/climate%20impact%20of%20plastics\/climate-impact-of-plastics-v2.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">McKinsey study<\/a> found that aluminum cans produce twice as much greenhouse gas emissions as plastic water bottles.<\/p>\n<p>Momoa is hardly the only celebrity with weirdly strong thoughts about water. Disney Channel star and Biden supporter Vanessa Hudgens came out against drinking water in October 2021, the <em>Free Beacon <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/biden-administration\/pro-biden-actress-vanessa-hudgens-doesnt-drink-water\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>.
