Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, has raised legitimate concerns about the FBI\u2019s Tim Thibault for his \u201cpartisan bias\u201d and stifling of important investigations as assistant special agent in charge. <\/p>\n<p>Now Thibault \u2014 who announced his <a href=\"https:\/\/justthenews.com\/government\/federal-agencies\/fbi-agent-who-opened-trump-probe-retired-not-involved-mar-lago-hunter\">retirement<\/a> from his post two weeks ago amid ongoing scrutiny, specifically about his role in suppressing an investigation into Hunter Biden \u2014 has used his attorneys and the corporate media to run a PR campaign defending himself, with his attorneys <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.ph\/hWxJ3#selection-998.7-1207.36\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">telling<\/a> Time magazine that their client \u201cdid not supervise the investigation of Hunter Biden\u201d and was \u201cnot involved in any decisions related to any laptop that may be at issue in that investigation.\u201d Thibault \u201cdid not seek to close the investigation,\u201d they said, contradicting Republican allegations.<\/p>\n<p>But Thibault is not off the hook as far as Grassley is concerned. On Wednesday, the Iowa Republican punched back \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=1pQaLkJssAY\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">on the floor of the Senate<\/a> \u2014 to reiterate that he has grave concerns about Thibault and needs some answers. He also took a swing at the corporate media, lambasting their recent misinformation about the disgraced FBI agent\u2019s prejudice corrupting important investigations.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Thibault has \u201cinfected major FBI investigations,\u201d Grassley said, highlighting his bias in the Hunter Biden investigation. Thibault blocked the FBI from looking into additional activities of President Joe Biden\u2019s son that could have been criminal \u2014 leading to questions about whether all related evidence is really being examined.  <\/p>\n<p>Whistleblowers <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/07\/26\/grassley-blasts-fbi-doj-as-corrupted-to-their-very-core-after-whistleblowers-allege-biden-family-business-coverup\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">disclosed<\/a> to Grassley that the FBI has received \u201ceither verifiable or verified\u201d information about Hunter Biden \u201cseparate from the ongoing Hunter Biden criminal probe.\u201d And though the FBI reportedly wanted to follow up on this separate information regarding the Biden son \u2014 something that would have typically been further investigated \u2014 Thibault blocked a further probe of this separate material.<\/p>\n<p>Thibault made this decision under \u201cthe false assertion that it was disinformation,\u201d as Grassley <a href=\"https:\/\/www.grassley.senate.gov\/news\/news-releases\/whistleblowers-reports-reveal-double-standard-in-pursuit-of-politically-charged-investigations-by-senior-fbi-doj-officials\">noted<\/a> in July. Whistleblowers <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/07\/26\/fbi-jeopardized-national-security-by-calling-verified-hunter-biden-evidence-disinformation-whistleblowers-say\/\">alleged<\/a> to Grassley that \u201cThibault and other FBI officials sought to falsely portray as disinformation evidence acquired from multiple sources that provided the FBI derogatory information related to Hunter Biden\u2019s financial and foreign business activities, even though some of that information had already been or could be verified.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe investigative activity and information couldn\u2019t be advanced as it should\u2019ve been,\u201d Grassley remarked on the Senate floor this week. \u201cThe FBI could\u2019ve gathered more evidence with respect to Hunter Biden but cut bait instead. And the FBI and Thibault cut bait right before the 2020 presidential election.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Of course, corporate media carried water for the FBI, as Grassley noted. The senator called out The Washington Post specifically for concealing Thibault\u2019s role and for repeating its MO from the Russia-collusion hoax whereby the FBI predicates its investigations on inaccurate reporting from corrupt media, which then purports to \u201ccorroborate\u201d its false reporting with leaks from federal law enforcement and partisan actors.<\/p>\n<p>In that context, Grassley called for U.S. Attorney David Weiss to question what the FBI is actually investigating and whether all evidence is being reviewed. Grassley said he had asked these questions to FBI Director Christopher Wray with no response.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBecause of Director Wray\u2019s failure to answer,\u201d Grassley said, \u201cCongress is unaware of whether or not the FBI has finally shared full and complete information and investigative activity with any ongoing criminal probe.\u201d Additionally, Thibault\u2019s partisan bias combined with the potential failure to examine all evidence could lead to Americans questioning the investigation results \u2014 causing <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/08\/29\/the-short-life-and-amazingly-fast-death-of-the-fbis-mar-a-lago-play\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">further distrust in federal law enforcement<\/a> at a time when roughly half the country, including a <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/08\/24\/exclusive-plurality-of-independents-dont-trust-doj-or-fbi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">plurality of independents<\/a>, don\u2019t trust the Department of Justice and the FBI. <\/p>\n<p>Aside from Thibault\u2019s biased role in the Hunter Biden probe, Grassley also discussed his role in opening a criminal probe into the Trump campaign and its advisers. According to the senator, the former special agent in charge \u201cpredicated\u201d this investigation \u201cin substantial part on liberal news articles and information derived from a liberal non-profit.\u201d And despite the investigation being outside the bounds of standard procedure, both Wray and Attorney General Merrick Garland gave it the green light.<\/p>\n<p>When left-wing media outlet The Washington Post reported on this investigation, it \u201cfailed to note that Thibault was a prime mover in opening it.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThibault said that he \u2018welcomes any investigation\u2019 into the allegations against him,\u201d Grassley concluded. \u201cWell, Mr. Thibault, come on in.
