In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.documentcloud.org\/documents\/22277843-amended-complaint-in-trump-v-clinton\">an amended complaint<\/a> several months later, he expanded on the accusations of a conspiracy.<\/p>\n<p>But U.S. District Judge Donald Middlebrooks, a Bill Clinton appointee, said that the lengthy complaint \u201cdoes not establish that Plaintiff is entitled to any relief\u201d and that the claims presented in it \u201care not warranted under existing law.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI highlight here just two glaring problems with the Amended Complaint. There are many others. But these are emblematic of the audacity of Plaintiff\u2019s legal theories and the manner in which they clearly contravene binding case law. First, the Amended Complaint\u2019s answer to the Defendants\u2019 Motion to Dismiss the original Complaint, wherein Defendants noted the lack of predicate RICO offenses, was to add another predicate offense\u2014wire fraud,\u201d Middlebrooks, who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/clinton-appointed-judge-rejects-trumps-demand-he-step-back-from-lawsuit-against-clinton_4389123.html\">refused to recuse<\/a> from the case, wrote in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.documentcloud.org\/documents\/22277842-order-dismissing-complaint\">a 65-page order<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Trump also \u201cfails to account for the Supreme Court\u2019s requirement that to\u00a0obstruct justice there must be a nexus to a judicial or grand jury proceeding,\u201d he added later.<\/p>\n<p>The judge said that the way many events were characterized in the amended complaint \u201care implausible because they lack any specific allegations which might provide factual support for the conclusions reached,\u201d including the characterization that former FBI Director James Comey and other government officials \u201coverzealously targeted\u201d Trump.<\/p>\n<p>Trump and his campaign were investigated by the FBI for years over the dossier compiled by Steele, which was paid for by Clinton and other Democrats. The dossier contained many claims that have remained unsubstantiated to this day.
