While it could have generated huge profits, internal documents <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/23327809\/twitter-onlyfans-child-sexual-content-problem-elon-musk\">reviewed<\/a> by the outlet showed it could also have been a PR \u2014 and perhaps legal \u2014 nightmare. Twitter\u2019s vaunted \u201cRed Team\u201d warned senior executives the company would not be able to effectively police content exploiting kids and other victims in a subscription-based model, according to the report.<\/p>\n<p id=\"n07WeT\">\u201cTwitter cannot accurately detect child sexual exploitation and non-consensual nudity at scale,\u201d the team concluded in April.<\/p>\n<p>In a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/technology\/2022\/08\/30\/twitter-onlyfans-musk-problems\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">statement<\/a> to The Washington Post, Twitter spokesperson Celeste Carswell appeared to confirm at least some of The Verge\u2019s reporting.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-copy font--article-body gray-darkest ma-0 pb-md\" data-qa=\"drop-cap-letter\" data-el=\"text\">The internal documents obtained by The Verge are part of an \u201congoing and reflective dialogue on the topic that brought us to the decision to pause the workstream for the right reason and prioritize elsewhere,\u201d Carswell said<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-copy font--article-body gray-darkest ma-0 pb-md\" data-qa=\"drop-cap-letter\" data-el=\"text\">\u201cTwitter has zero tolerance for child sexual exploitation,\u201d Carswell\u2019s statement continued. \u201cWe aggressively fight online child sexual abuse and have invested in technology and tools to enforce our policy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Twitter is currently being <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/second-minor-sues-twitter-over-sex-trafficking-on-social-media-site\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sued<\/a>\u00a0in <a href=\"https:\/\/endsexualexploitation.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Doe-v-Twitter_FiledComplaint_012021.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California<\/a>\u00a0for allegedly allowing children\u2019s sexual exploitation on the site, even after being made aware of the content and the boys\u2019 ages.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cReminder: a 13 year old minor survivor begged Twitter to remove a video sexually exploiting him,\u201d sex trafficking survivor and victims\u2019 advocate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/sex-trafficking-survivor-challenges-dorsey-on-heels-of-lawsuit?%3Futm_source=twitter&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_campaign=dwtwitter\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Eliza Bleu<\/a>\u00a0said of the suit. \u201cTwitter reviewed the content and said NO. They had his government ID showing that he was a minor at the time. The video had over 160k views. Over 2k retweets.\u201d<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The department of homeland security had to step in to get Twitter to remove the video. <\/p>\n<p>Twitter refused to take responsibility. <\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit is headed to <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/US9thCircuit?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@US9thCircuit<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/fJzQwqVb0d\">https:\/\/t.co\/fJzQwqVb0d<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Eliza (@elizableu) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/elizableu\/status\/1566255798841491456?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 4, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In an interview with The Daily Wire, Bleu accused Twitter of reducing child exploitation to cold cash calculations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOften times the minors sexually exploited on Twitter globally are amongst the world\u2019s most vulnerable and impoverished,\u201d Bleu said. \u201cThe platform has long done a cost-benefit analysis while tackling this issue.
